Secrets of growing strawberries

Secrets of growing strawberriesStrawberries are planted either in May or August. The keys to planting strawberries are soil density and strong watering. It is recommended to squeeze the strawberries into a hole filled with water. Then the water is covered with earth - so that there are no voids between the roots and the soil. Otherwise, the roots will take root more slowly and some of the plantings may die. This method of planting strawberries allows you to create optimal conditions for the plant. High humidity and compaction of the earth at the junction with the roots has a positive effect on the development of the plant.

It should be noted that when planting strawberries, its heart should be exactly above the surface. If the base of the leaves is deepened, the plant will rot, and if you put it (so that some of the roots remain outside), then the plant can dry out and die. When properly planted, the core of the strawberry is exactly on the border between the ground and the air.

Further plantings can be covered with a covering material, or insulated with mulch. Covering material breathes well, but retains moisture, which helps save time on frequent watering. Mulch performs roughly the same task.

The strawberries should remain under Covering Material 30 for two weeks. However, many keep plants under cover number 17 all summer long. This does not interfere with photosynthesis at all - the covering tissue transmits light and gives the plant food.

The soil for strawberries should be light. Therefore, it is impossible to loosen the soil near strawberries - the root system of this plant is superficial and can be touched when loosening. And if the surface of the ground near strawberries is covered with mulch, then there is no need for loosening at all - the soil under the layer of hay always remains moist.

To keep the earth as light as strawberries need, Sedera plants are planted on its surface. They cover the soil around the strawberry and make it loose. When the siderat blooms, it must be pulled out and placed next to the strawberries as mulch. Thanks to these plants, the soil remains airy and does not harden.

Secrets of growing strawberriesStrawberries should be planted in soil that is rich in nutrients. To prepare the soil, you need to add rotted organic matter to it. The optimal amount is up to 3 buckets per square meter. You can distribute fertilizer in different ways - scatter it evenly over the garden bed, or put soil from the beds, compost and rotted horse manure in separate holes 24 cm deep, and pour a small amount of ash. Stir the resulting composition, as a result, a nutritional mixture for strawberries will be obtained.

You need to plant strawberries in a well-lit place, in a row, with a distance of 0.5 m between the bushes. As a result, strawberries will grow better, as there will be enough light and space for each plant.

Siderata should grow on the paths between the strawberries. As a result, this will make the soil loose, and raw materials for humus will always be available for plants.

You can plant in a staggered or linear pattern. An alternative option is carpet planting, when the strawberries are not thinned out and they grow, occupying the entire soil of the garden with small bushes (if multiplied by a mustache). In the latter case, the harvest of strawberries can be the same, but all of them will be small and it will be more difficult to harvest them than when grown in a linear order with a large distance between the plants.
