ooo, how interesting! I love these recipes, thanks!

What is orange blossom water? and what to replace, otherwise in our village I have not even heard this ..
Lora0209
Lisss's, -Orange Blossom - (from the French "fleur d'orange" - orange flower)
The scent of orange blossom is a bit like jasmine, but with more tart, slightly honeyed undertones. Used as aromatic additives in cooking. I added a couple of drops to a glass of mineral water (without gas) ... (in the small photo the bottle with this water stands for coffee) it is very aromatic, which I can not even imagine ... But you can just drink hot coffee with cold water, a sip coffee, a sip of water ...
Zhivchik
Lora0209, thanks for the beauty!
And the dates are so beautiful near the cup. Not like we sell dried ones.
I am going after NG to your region to rest. And how can I ask there to buy this orange blossom water?
How much does it cost? And then they will cheat.

In Israel, this water is replaced with ordinary cold non-carbonated mineral water with a slice of lemon.
To be honest, coffee with cardamom is a rather specific thing, for a very big fan. For our European taste receptors, to put it mildly, very contradictory. Personally, I drink this coffee only when I find myself somewhere in an Arab village, and even then so as not to offend the owners.
Lora0209
Caprice, frankly, I rarely drink coffee with cardamom either ... Well, that's why it is spicy ... and it is not necessary to add in large quantities, and a few grains are quite acceptable ...
Caprice
And no one puts a lot of cardamom there. In addition, in our Arab villages, coffee is sold mostly ground and with the addition of cardamom. We call cardamom "hel" (the letter "h" reads like a guttural "g" - a cross between "g" and "x") Therefore, adding it there is simply unnecessary. I have tried this coffee in Arab, Druze and Bedouin villages. To be honest, I didn't notice much difference. For myself, I preferred coffee without extraneous additives.
Lora0209
just the one that is already on sale ground and it is not very pleasant to drink with cardamom ... I buy coffee in the "Shaheen cafe" in Cairo ... or classic arabica, or flavored with the taste of chocolate, caramel, irishkrem ...

I love Arabica, but ... without any flavorings. She herself is great. She experimented with flavored grains for a while. Those with the taste of chocolate, caramel, airishkrim, they are, of course, not bad, but for one-time testing. But ... I didn't want to experiment anymore.

Girls - cardamom is cool, a bag must be at hand! (just don't buy already ground)
True, I add it more to meat spices in small doses for a light shade
Sometimes you want something unusual for a change.

Laura, but at least what, like an inch: half a grain in a day for a cup?

Laura, and at least what, like an inch: half a grain in a day for a cup?
The fruits of cardamom are three-chambered capsules, that is, there are several grains inside, so for a start, you can take only 1 pod per Turk. And I completely agree with julifera , just not ground ...

And also cardamom essential oil relieves depression, eliminates melancholy, lethargy, apathy, fears, headaches. Restores strength, relieves fatigue. It cheers up, invigorates, awakens hope and, possibly, gives self-confidence.
Antiseptic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, carminative, diuretic, stimulating.

Cardamom oil normalizes digestion, especially in cases where the disorders arise from nerves. It can act as a laxative, treating colic, flatulence, dyspepsia (discomfort in the upper digestive tract) and heartburn. Relieves nausea and, by influencing the fermentation processes in the stomach, helps to get rid of bad breath. Increases salivation and improves appetite.
A couple of drops of cardamom essential mala in honey after meals helps to improve digestion, helps to get rid of the smell of onions and garlic.
It has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the gallbladder, as it is known to help burn fat in the body. Cardamom oil is used to treat urinary disorders and to relieve painful conditions before menstruation - the oil reduces irritability during premenstrual tension, as well as headaches.

Cardamom oil has a beneficial effect on the respiratory system, soothes coughs, and warms up with chills. Recommended for colds, coughs, bronchitis, asthma, hoarseness, high body temperature, laryngitis, tracheitis, pneumonia.

I want coffee !!! it's a pity that it's almost midnight, I like to try something new, tomorrow I'll cook it for sure, without fleretos, just
Margit
How well I envy you, you can afford to drink coffee! And I drink tea only at a party, so as not to focus attention on myself. Cardamom, saffron, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, one pinch of it, with a slice of lemon and drenched in boiling water, make up my tea. But it’s delicious too! When I really want coffee, I drink chicory with cream, oh ...

Tasty, spicy and aromatic ... both tea and coffee ...

Well, this recipe did not give me rest. Today I bought this cardamom in Kvadrat:

I made coffee. After trying it, I realized that Caprice was right.

I will just repeat: for a European person, the taste of coffee with cardamom is a very specific thing for a big fan.

This coffee tastes like coffee with a Christmas tree.
So for an amateur.
And once again I was convinced that my favorites were cappuccino and latte.

Tanso it should look like a gin and tonic then ?? and this was my favorite drink during my student years !! and the husband (future) cursed and said - wow, it smells like a Christmas tree .. (somewhere there was a smiley, screwed up with a tongue ...)
Gaby
And I bought cardamom, but haven't cooked it yet.
Luda, I also liked Jin, maybe I will like coffee, ha, I found that cardamom needs to be ground and now I have to buy a mortar, I don't have it.
Suslya
I did it and I liked it! I like spices and coffee turned out to be boring.

Gaby, you can not grind, but try to crush a few grains with a rolling pin ... after all, only a little is needed ...
And the coffee is definitely specific and not for everyone's taste ...
Lisss's
in my opinion, they choke with two spoons easily, as far as I remember ...

but this is not a reason to refuse to buy a mortar! ..

Freken Bock
Oh, I can vividly imagine the smell of this coffee! I love cardamom, but I only use it in baked goods. I love, for example, in Butter bun from kava add. I don't know how to add to meat. And I'll go and try the coffee now! With a tree!
Lora0209
you dreamers, girls, somehow I don't smell like a tree at all ... probably the approach of the New Year is affecting ...
julifera
Oh, but I still can't cook it, all once and once, sticks in dumplings with new dumplings, maybe I'll go experiment right now ...

I rarely drink coffee, my son usually cooks for me in a Turk, he has a good taste for this business, and he certainly won't want to mess with seasonings, so he will have to.

Cool you came up with - it will be like a family Khlebopechkinskoe:
- "Let's go have coffee with Christmas trees, and let's go!" - and everyone will know what it is with cardamom

Only a juniper reminds me of a Christmas tree more than cardamom, I love meat with juniper trees

I also have a question - is it possible without a carnation, will it be niche?
And then I only like cardamom
Lora0209
definitely you can without cloves, cook and drink as you like ...
Zhivchik

In, in, as you like. Yesterday I added milk to the "Christmas tree" and it was a little tastier.
Lisss's
Tanya, you're a gourmet! tree with milk - they won't believe who to tell
Suslya

Then lovers of the taste of the Christmas tree will like it.

That nothing tree ... cardamom and cloves ... I didn't feel the tree
julifera
I did it yesterday only with cardamom, without cloves, with one box to start with - that's it, the smell of cardamom organically poured into the coffee
I will gradually increase the amount of cardamom.

It doesn't smell like a Christmas tree there, then maybe someone gives a carnation a Christmas tree

Okay, Suslya, not a tree, but a pine.

Cardamom doesn't have a coniferous aroma
Juniper and rosemary have a coniferous aroma, but I, for example, cannot "hear" juniper in coffee, but it harmonizes very well with tea.

Zhivchik, I'm shocked pleasantly shocked

Such points Bonnier ... !!! these are the receptors in the upper part of our noses that are responsible for the layout of fragrances into their components and delivering them to the addressee, that is, to the "olfactory" part of the brain, which is adjacent to the limbic one (hence the connection of aromas with emotions and the endocrine system - i.e. here is the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland ...)

Zhivchik definitely caught 2 essential components in cardamom, which are included in the first four in coniferous aromas !!!

For comparison (in essential oils):
cardamom - terpeniol, borneol, limonene, cineole, etc.
cedar - patient hydrocarbons, etc.
pine - pinene, camphene, borneol and etc.
cypress - terpeniol, pinen, etc.
thuja - borneol, thujone, pinene, etc.
juniper - pinene, camphene, terpeniol, borneol and etc.
rosemary - borneol, camphene, cineole, pinene, etc.
spruce - pinene, camphene, etc.

As you can see, the other 2 conifers are Pinene and Camphene. And unfortunately, for many, it is the presence of camphene that is associated with needles - because it is like an obsessive admirer at Bonnier points

More often one tone dominates in aromas (only three)

upper - when you immediately seem to plunge into a cloud of spray - all citrus fruits are like that, for example: a fan showed up, left a business card and evaporated

average - the most exquisite, tart, deep shades of aroma - well developed in lavender, Chinese cinnamon, incense: such a fan will attest to his presence personally, inquire about your affairs and feel when to take leave;

lower - earthy, leather, balsamic shades - very long-lasting, it is not easy to dismiss them.

So camphene plays in all tones - immediately and for a long time, therefore it is remembered, and it covers other components with its wide back (for the usual sense of smell, and not like Zhivchik's)

Sorry for the long post, I confess - I immediately gagged, attracted by the word "spicy" (aromas are my weakness or strength?). But I was silent, since I don't drink coffee. I only smell and grow on the windowsill ... The leaves smell ... but not roasted coffee

Yeah, have you seen? That's what my nose is.
In general, my sense of smell is a disaster. My husband says that I need to walk on the street with a clothespin on my nose.

Nagira, thanks for the info!

Have you seen, yeah
Only my husband says the same thing to me, but I don't smell like pine needles.
Cardamom of the ginger family and its scent is lemon, like cloves, it is more of a camphor smell.
But if you hear needles in the ginger family, then let them, if only it was delicious

Girls, I have a question for those who have already managed to prepare and evaluate the taste of coffee according to this recipe, tell me, what about the strength of this drink? Judging by the amount of coffee (1 tsp, even with a good slide) and liquid (60 + 150 = 210 ml.), There is practically no strength, correct if I'm mistaken ... Or is Bedouin coffee not brewed very strong?
Nagira
Innulya, for brewing coffee, only 60 ml is taken, and a spoonful of coffee - with a slide! The fortress is the most!
And 150 ml of orange blossom water - to renew the taste buds, is served in a separate glass. After all, there is not only coffee, but also sweet dates ... I would definitely wash them down ... A sip of coffee ... a slice of a date ... a sip of orange water ...
Crochet
Irishaaa ... I'm a brake ... ah brake reading recipes diagonally- it's a terrible thing ... Thank you dear, I'll try today !!! Current without dates and without water, I hate drinking coffee with water, I know and understand that this is necessary / better, but ... it's not mine ... but dates are better with tea with a bite ... I love coffee without anything, well .. . sometimes with milk ...
Gala
Very interesting! And such different reviews. I will definitely try it soon.
MariS
I also just saw this recipe. I will definitely try - I love discovering a new taste!
Thank you all for the tip on this coffee!
Erhan
And all my life I drink coffee with cardamom and cloves. I immediately grind the beans and spices in a coffee grinder. I really like it, I usually drink with dark chocolate.
MariS
So I also drink Bedouin (not entirely, of course, without water - absent)!
Super - really like it! Now I will use all the coffee that was not used due to its tastelessness (already 500 grams has accumulated), I will use with cardamom and cloves.
We still need to buy some water or, as they advise here, replace it with water with lemon.
