Cooking method

  • Cut the lemons and oranges into very thin slices of 2-3 mm.

  • Pour granulated sugar on a plate, dip each circle of lemon and orange very strongly in sugar on both sides.
  • We spread the circles on a baking sheet and put in a preheated oven 160 * C.
  • First, the slices are warmed up and soaked in sugar syrup, then I transfer the slices to the wire rack in the oven, and let the slices dry. do not open the oven.
  • When the slices are dry, but still wet, take out the finished slices from the oven and lay them on a wire rack or paper in one layer so that the chips are completely dry. lay out the chips to dry in one layer, otherwise they may stick together.
  • Be careful not to overdry the chips, otherwise they will be too dry, the finished chips on paper will still dry out.

And if you try to make them in an electric dryer?

Finely sliced oranges and lemons dry well. Therefore, I would hold the slices in hot syrup with 50% sugar, then on a sieve and into the dryer

But there are other options, wait until the next harvest

Admin... why are you doing that? It is impossible to wait, salivation is already flowing. I really want everything at once.

I have lingonberries next in line (almost ready) and the rose hips are being done

And they threaten to drive them out of the house if they don't clean the apartment before leaving.

And there you look and a new harvest of citrus will arrive in time

Let's wait impatiently In the meantime, let's dry the tomatoes, until they themselves dry up

just tried to make lemon chips. First, put on a baking sheet in the oven at 160 degrees. Then I put it on the wire rack and put it back in the oven. And they ... burned out ((((. Maybe it was necessary to turn off the degrees and keep in a hot oven without heating? Now I'm trying to make apple chips in an airfryer
Admin

So, you need to look for chips, stand nearby. If there is a moment of strong burning, open the oven slightly, reduce the heat, turn it over, ready to remove, and so on ...

I, Tan, did both lemons and oranges in the dryer yesterday. Here they are:
Candied Lemons and Oranges Chips
I came to the conclusion that they still need to be cooked like you, in the oven. There, probably due to the higher temperature, the crusts become soft. In the dryer they are like stone.
But I was not upset, because now we are going to brew tea with them.
Well, I got rid of yesterday ... First, I held lemons in hot syrup, then oranges, then bananas ... And then I added cinnamon to the syrup and kept apples in it! Can you imagine the taste of the latter ?! Yes, super finally!
There is still a lot of syrup left, so I hardly dipped the meat into it yesterday, I liked the syrup so much.
In general, the idea itself - to dry lemons and oranges, I really liked. Only here we need to figure out how to make the crusts soft in the dryer ... Because the pulp of both is awesomely tasty!
There is one thought ... tomorrow, maybe I'll do it. Then I’ll gallop up to chat!

already soaped red oranges together with the crusts to dry
Kroshik, if you do not boil in syrup, the crust comes out hard. I made oranges in the dryer, the crusts had to be cut off, and then into chocolate ... I chew slowly.
