I have a large kitchen (40 sq. M.), For the "sweet-butter-coffee" technique (chocolate maker, bread maker and coffee machine, though there is no multicooker yet - I don't know if I need it) bought a separate "island" - VERY CONVENIENT, everything close at hand, all neatly, over the "island" hung all the spatula-rolling pin. Recommend !
pardon the misunderstanding, but what is an "island"?
Cat
I do not know how to explain it . This is such a free-standing element of kitchen furniture, with the possibility of embedding in it a sink, stove, oven, etc., with built-in sockets, and it has a facade on all sides - you can even put it in the center of the kitchen and run around it, I'm nothing I did not install it in it, except for sockets and it stands near the wall. Or, like mine, you can mount a special console to the ceiling on which a suspended shelf with all sorts of "bells and whistles" is mounted - depending on the imagination and the amount of rustling (money). Sorry, I can't explain it more clearly.

pardon the misunderstanding, but what is an "island"?

By the way, yes, of course, such an island in the kitchen is very convenient, but for this, the kitchen should really be larger than average. Here is an article about kitchen islands and their photos.

“Kitchen-island” or the highlight of your kitchen!

An interesting feature has been observed recently - families are getting smaller, but the kitchens are getting bigger. According to statistics, a person spends most of his free time in the kitchen.

We can say that the kitchen is one of the most popular and important places in the house. And the furniture for it is chosen first of all. When building new houses, architects and designers try to make the kitchen as large as possible or combine it with the living room. With such a kitchen room size and an incorrect organization of the working space, the hostess can run more than ten kilometers in the kitchen in one day.

A huge variety of kitchen furniture plus the imagination of designers allows you to give the kitchen an elegant look and achieve maximum convenience for the hostess.

With the increase in the area of the kitchen space, it became possible to use kitchen "islands". Another name for such a cuisine is “island kitchen”. This option is well suited for kitchens larger than 16 sq. m. Such an "island" in the kitchen looks very sophisticated and, as it were, unites the kitchen into one kitchen space. But in order to avoid unnecessary walking, you need to think carefully about what functions it will perform.

The optimal dimensions for the "island" are 1.2x1.2 m and 0.6x1.2 m. The minimum size is 0.9x0.6 m. It should be borne in mind that there should be space for walking around the "island". It should be no less than 90 cm. The optimal option is 1.2 m. Therefore, the minimum size of the territory that will occupy your "island" in the kitchen measuring 0.9x0.6 m. Will be approximately 2.7x2.2 m Of course, each person has his own concept of convenience, but when planning a kitchen, you should pay attention to the advice of experts.

As the saying goes: "Think for yourself, decide for yourself." But still, let's imagine, as an example, that under one wall in such a kitchen there is still furniture. Its depth is 0.6 m. Therefore, the width of your kitchen should be 3.3 m. The same situation applies for the length. The length turns out to be 2.8 m. Conclusion: the minimum size of your kitchen space should be 3.3x2.8 m. And this is 9.24 square meters in area.

The height of the "island" is usually the same with the rest of the kitchen furniture, about 85 cm, but it is possible to use a bar counter. It can be a stationary structure or mobile (on wheels), it all depends on the size and wishes of the hostess. The shape of the "kitchen-island" can be square, rectangular, trapezoidal and even with rounded edges. It can be a variant of a regular table or a variant of a super-modern design with supplied communications (water, electricity, gas, ventilation).

Happy owners of very large kitchens should not make such an "island" huge. The optimal size is the size when the hostess can reach any place on the island without making unnecessary movements. This also applies to multi-level "islands".

Functions can be performed by the "kitchen-island" as varied as the options for its execution.

The first and perhaps the simplest option is simply additional cooking space. Such an island stands in the center of the kitchen and allows you to feel comfortable, being located when cooking, facing the main kitchen area. In addition, it is much more convenient to work on such a surface together, standing opposite each other. In the drawers located under the cutting surface, you can place cooking tools (boards, knives) and dishes. This solution gives the kitchen a simple elegance and distinctive style.

The second option is to use such an "island" as a place for "fast" food. With our fast pace of life, this option can be very relevant. The "island" can remain flat or some part of the surface can be raised in the form of a bar. This will help separate the cooking area from the rest of the area. If there are children in the house - little helpers, then it may be worth, on the contrary, to lower the part of the "island".

The third option is suitable for large "kitchen islands". This is one of the most popular options. It consists in mounting into the surface of a sink, hob or other built-in appliances. Do not forget that a hood must be placed above the hob.

An “island” in the kitchen is comfortable, beautiful and fashionable. It will highlight your personality. But before you start dreaming about it, measure your desires with the dimensions of the kitchen space. And go ahead, surprise your family and friends!

Yes, the island is good. I also wanted at first. So our designer said, they say, where are you going to do this with your small kitchen? You will devour the whole space, there will be nowhere to turn around. By the way, we have a kitchen of 21.5 meters, with a bay window.

Yes-ah-ah, you got a good designer! Out of 40.0 meters, we have allocated 20 meters for the kitchen itself, and everything else is a dining room with a fireplace (there is no fireplace yet - only a chimney) and everything fits, although I developed the design and functionality of the room myself. Consider the "side table" option, they come in different lengths from 50 cm to 250 cm and their width ranges from 38 to 45 cm in depth. They come with drawers and without drawers, with an additional shelf at the bottom of the table. In principle, I think this is not a bad alternative to the "island".

Oh, we actually got an interesting designer, he is an architect in one person. He forbade something all the time. And he dreamed of the corners: "Well, how is it, you go out and visually rush into the corner"
And we have already thought about the kitchen. Divided the floor into two parts: solid wood + porcelain stoneware. A huge glass table will stand on top of the array. That is, the kitchen is divided into a dining area and a work area.
To be honest, it already seems to me that he was right. I look at the kitchen, and it seems small to me. Habit costs

If you haven't ordered a glass table yet, I recommend that you reconsider this idea. We had to change the glass-forged table after 2-3 weeks, it is very beautiful but completely non-functional. Whatever tempered glass is, all the same there are scratches from plates and cutlery, all stains and fingerprints on it highly are clearly visible. So if you don't have a housekeeper ..........
Yana
To avoid scratches on the table, you need to use hot napkins. I have been using these for a year and a half and the table is like new. True, my table is not glass, but wooden with tiles.
Ludmila
As the owner of a glass table, I can write that glass is very scratched (sometimes in an inexplicable way ...), any speck is sooo visible, even if it is a fingerprint. But the glass table looks very stylish!
Gypsy
And the glass table is always cold, this is perhaps the most unpleasant for the hands, and the clinking of the dishes. IMHO

I have my own house and a kitchen-dining room of 28 sq. m .. At first it seemed to me that this is a lot. Now I think that it is still enough, but not much, and I have nowhere to put the extra equipment. Of the equipment I have: a two-door refrigerator, gas hob, extractor hood, electric oven, convection microwave, TV, bread maker, coffee maker, toaster, multicooker, deep fryer, grill, dishwasher, food processor. I would like at least a chocolate maker and a coffee machine, but where? And we immediately abandoned the glass table because we thought that it could be dangerous for the child and ordered a wooden 2.5 m, and when unfolded it was 3.5 m.In principle, we like it, but all this is without much originality ...

Interestingly, I have more kitchen appliances, and there is still space, although the kitchen is almost two times smaller (13 sq. M) (refrigerator, though not double), but it does not take 10 meters. I would have such a kitchen, so I would have turned around ... I am already silent about 40 meters.

We have two choices. First, but very expensive. German tempered glass table, costing not a few t. Bucks. Very durable. For such a sledgehammer beat, and there should be no scratches. Here the toad strangles, needless to say. The second, as the designer advised us, to make the same table, only to order. The cost will be exactly two times lower. But, it can be done in different ways. In the first version, the table can be either transparent or partially or fully frosted. And in the second, you can make a table with the effect of broken glass. They say that on this one, not only traces of hands are not visible, but also scratches, if any.
This is the one that is square at the bottom. But you must see him live. In the photo it is unpretentious, but in fact it is almost a masterpiece. It even works like an "elevator" - fluff, fluff - the cylinders apparently drive the air - so quiet

And to wash it is as easy as shelling pears, with microfiber cloths in seconds. I will entrust this business to my husband if I get tired of it myself

I really liked the idea of "broken glass" and it should be very stylish.
And about the unpretentious - in my opinion, all very expensive and stylish things look, at first glance, very simple and unassuming, but in fact ...

After we installed a kitchen with fashionable glossy aluminum-glass facades, a forged glass table + chairs for it, after a while my husband and I wandered into a furniture store and my husband saw a TABLE. The TABLE was oak and the thickness of the table top was 8 cm, the legs and the total size of the table corresponded to this thickness, So my husband lay down, in the store, on this table, pressed his cheek to the countertop and said that without him he would not leave the store. Neither the price, nor the fact that it was necessary to change the facades in the kitchen for this table, nor my screams stopped him.
CONCLUSION: if you like a thing, you need to buy it no matter what. We, just a month after moving to a new house, had to change all the furniture in the kitchen and dining room because of the "stasov table".

I saw a similar table with broken glass in a store. It really looks great, but it's hardly stylish. It does not differ much from just glass, but dirt and scratches on it will be less noticeable.

And glossy facades in the kitchen seem to me not practical, because any touch of hands will immediately be imprinted on the gloss, and given that hands are not always clean in the kitchen, you will have to rub it around the clock.

But about the thing that you like, you definitely noticed. If you don't buy it right away, then you can regret it for many years.
natalka
Exactly! And "oak" is good, I really did without "valuable species" of wood. Just a matte facade in two colors. Today it is already trite, but when ordered it was very creative. True, even then, I felt horror, only imagining the glossy doors in my kitchen. There are a lot of people who want to get dirty, but there is no one to launder ...
Cat
After purchasing the "stasov table" we had no choice, the table dictated the entire interior.
For the last 10-15 years I have been constantly moving and doing repairs, during this time I came to the conclusion: the interior should be as calm, not pretentious and minimalist-classic-comfortable, because super creative interiors go out of fashion very quickly or just get bored ( especially quickly, bright color spots begin to annoy me).
natalka
I agree ... Classic is the best option. That's why she is a classic - always on the wave, and bright colors can really annoy some people. I was afraid of this most of all, but ours is not very bright and the eye is somehow used to it. The colors are no longer noticed. True, my husband from time to time reminds me of my initiative, says: "I had to choose a classic tree." It annoys him that it is difficult to match some elements to the style.

Exactly!!! In the previous apartment, we first bought and laid tiles on the "apron" of coral and sunny orange color, the walls were painted in peach-pink color - it turned out just great, sand-colored porcelain stoneware was laid on the floor under the "old stone" - great, sunny and very fun !!! BUT we could not find the facades for a very long time kitchen furniture under these "schizophrenic walls".

So you can make the inner color layer in the color of the kitchen, kitchen apron, or curtains or something else, and it can already turn out quite stylish
And then, as it seems to me, the quality of the table and its shape play an important role in the style of the entire interior.

Girls! Do not go to furniture stores and salons with your husbands. Men have completely different tastes. So I decided to make my kitchen pearl-glossy in the "modern" style. I have already started buying household appliances to fit into the future headset. And he managed to take me to the furniture salon of her husband. There he saw chairs made of solid givea under oak. And literally stuck to them. Everything, he simply did not want to hear about others. And these chairs in the country style are beautiful, but heavy. To all my objections that they are inconvenient to pick up when cleaning, he promised to help me. And then, already without him, when I visited furniture stores, I watched three times the scenes of wives dragging their husbands away from these chairs. What attracted men to these chairs? It's still a mystery to me. Maybe there is a lot of wood there? We ended up buying them. And I had to say goodbye to my mother-of-pearl dream. Everyone's kitchen begins with a kitchen set, and then a table and chairs are selected. And my kitchen started with chairs. Of course, for these chairs, I ordered furniture not "modern", but "country" with facades of solid oak. And my husband really likes this oak kitchen.

My new kitchen will not be 42 or even 28 meters, but only 14, which I am very happy about, since now it is only 7.5 meters. Thought over all the cabinets and shelves, drawers, etc. There will be pull-out cabinets for storing oil bottles, storing oven trays, pans for storing pans, a box for storing lids, a carousel for storing pots, boxes for storing spices, and a large cabinet for storage of kitchen appliances, and even if there was space, I allowed myself a dishwasher, a waste grinder in the sink, a stationary water filter under the sink.
And also a wooden round table under the tablecloth and beautiful chairs.
The kitchen will be in a classic style, but bright. I spent a few days on measurements, calculations, etc., in a month it will be installed. The kitchen 7.5 meters seemed to be enough, two refrigerators were standing, and now I am looking at a new one - it seems to be too small, it would not hurt to have 42 meters, but where can I get them, and who will clean it all !!!
A sea of happiness and emotions!
Now I have pleasant chores associated with moving to a new apartment, the renovation was done under my personal supervision, now I need to get a new filling of the apartment, it is completely empty, I do not take all household items from the old apartment.
I hope that everything will turn out well in the new apartment, and the bread maker in the new place will also not let you down with delicious bread.

And I, at 28, have a lot of lockers, and all the equipment is on the tables. They even took a tabletop dishwasher because the cabinets were more expensive. All shelves are stuffed with all kinds of pots, tins, sets, jars, bottles, etc. Only a grill, a combine, an electric waffle iron and a chopper are hidden in the table. The rest is on top.

ELLI, as I understand you! I worn out my legs before I found a company where they made it according to my size. If you live in Moscow or Moscow region, then I can give a link to manufacturers of custom furniture. They make furniture of different prices. You can order an inexpensive kitchen set with birch oak facades. And if the doors are made of plastic, then even cheaper.
This is not the case in conventional kitchens. Although almost all have custom size customization services. But try to place an order there. The consultant designer will make round eyes, because he will have to calculate these dimensions or contact the factory and place an order there. For him, this is an extra job. As a result, it turns out that it is impossible to make facades (or the price will be impossible), and you will be strongly advised to make open shelves. Here's a non-standard!

A dream ... The kitchen is so big, big, and in terms of meters-centimeters-layout it is exactly what I need ... We will draw it ourselves, we will draw up consultants in the furniture.

For all those who still have a small kitchen - my microwave is hanging on the wall under the cabinet, the space on the table under it is free. It is very convenient, and such fasteners in household appliances are sold for 300-800 rubles.
ELLI
Dear Yana! Please, give the coordinates of the office that made you kitchen furniture! We have already encountered the whims of salon managers - a TROUBLE. I beg your pardon - I have not specified it - we live in Moscow, CAO.

And how they did it to me, you can see in the gallery "My bread machine in my kitchen" (2 pages):
https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/index.php@option=com_wrapper&Itemid=74

Surprisingly, as I drew, they did it. Without changing anything, only the dimensions were corrected. If you went to the salons, then you know that you can order facades with stained-glass windows only of a certain size, but here you can any. They gave me doors with stained-glass windows 32 cm !!! And this applies not only to facades. There you can order any wardrobes, any sizes, build in any non-standard equipment.

Great idea.I will definitely do this, the spices are still in cellophane, I rummage in them constantly and it's not buzzing. My kitchen is 3.01 to 2.82, and even the ventilation duct protrudes inward. We also need to squeeze the freezer in addition to the refrigerator. I will demolish the mezzanine and cabinet in the corridor, otherwise nothing will come of it. I did not see anywhere, in the layouts the option of using the space under the window. My window sill protrudes a little from the wall inward. Now I'm looking for a place to see. Thanks for the pictures, I have already learned how to save them.

For spices, following the same principle as Lisss I use plastic boxes from under different products (ice cream, for example). The "+" is that maintenance is easier (it is easier to take out and wash the box than to clean it in the locker compartment) and more options for a combination, that is, these boxes can be put this way or that as long as you find it more convenient. You can take more or less.
But you have a trick that it is in your kitchen that it is so convenient, and the size of the cabinet is very suitable for spices, it would be too small for spoons and forks
Lisss's
grandmothers, Your kitchen is just a dream for me "Khrushchev", kitchen 2.20x2.40 I always wanted such a box, only now it turned out to be realized. although, k.alena's idea with boxes is also good.

and under the windowsill I saw something, in my opinion, on the same forum, in the gallery "my stove in my kitchen", I think it was Alexandra's kitchen, I don't remember ... I also thought how well they thought of using this space ...

Thank you, I will search now. I have 8 centimeters under the windowsill, but if you make slightly spaced sliding doors or on the bracket of the door, then you can use it to store cereals (there are no batteries) or push it in. Now I have cereals in a cabinet, which I will destroy and part of on the loggia. and the degrees are -25 today, and if a wet thaw ensues later, this is not a buzz for flour. And if in the cool part, under the window, and in packages in one row - there will be good

grandmothers, here are some more pictures from my kitchen, which I find useful. sorry for the "intimate" details of the contents of the boxes

grandmothers, answering your question about kitchen amenities.

These are boxes for storing pans and lids. The boxes are of different sizes in depth (your size) and have a bottom made of metal rods, which allows you to fix the lids in a "stack" and are convenient to store and take out.

It's the same for pans.
My boxes are located one below the other.

Furniture for kitchen

Retractable shelves for bottles. The width of such a shelf is only 15 cm.
It is good to plan such retractable shelves where, when planning the kitchen, there are unfilled spaces between the furniture. This is how I have these gaps between the tables "sealed" with pull-out shelves, which turned out to be very convenient - everything is at hand and everything is in place and is not visible.
In addition to the shelves for oil, there is also a narrow shelf of 15 cm (2 shelves inside), where it is convenient to put cutting boards - it is also practical, all the boards (large and small) are in place, close at hand and do not interfere with the table.

Furniture for kitchen

Furniture for kitchen

In these pull-out shelves I store all my stocks of various oils for every day and for baking bread, as well as bottles and bottles of various vinegar.

This is a special shelf called "carousel" for storing bowls and pans.
These shelves are 270 and 360 *, have two shelves inside and rotate around their axis, which is very convenient when you need to get any pan. It is enough to turn the shelf in the desired direction, and the pan is in front of me. There is no need to climb far into the table, look for and rearrange pots from place to place in search of the right one.

Furniture for kitchen

I planned the entire built-in kitchen by myself and for myself.
True, my kitchen is 14.5 meters in size, there was where to roam when choosing furniture

mish
(y) Admin, impressed by the oil shelves. I saw them before in a store where there is a kitchen department, but there they were positioned under lying wine bottles, such as a wine cellar, and at the same time were on both sides of the oven. Are they far from the oven? I am worried that if the oven is nearby, the oil will experience temperature changes and deteriorate faster, probably. A good idea. It's just that in other places in the kitchen, such shelves are inconvenient for me, and besides the use case you showed, other thoughts do not come ...
Admin
My oven is generally raised high, above the boxes with lids.
Therefore, the oil is located below the oven, and besides, I have two shelves for oil and in different places. It turned out that I inserted them where I had "technological holes" between the tables 15 cm wide.
I have such "technological holes" of 15 cm in the upper part of the wall, and they also came in handy - there I have cutting boards and narrow trays lying in peace and quiet.

And then, my Siemens oven has good thermal insulation - it is barely warm even when baking bread, you can freely touch the oven door from the outside.
The edge of the oven can be seen above the oil shelf (first top picture of the shelf) - if you look at the top left corner - a black spot.
mish
How high is your hob then? If it's not difficult, post a photo on occasion, maybe your idea for the location of the oven and stove will suit me (:) our kitchens are of the same size). I will be very grateful.
Mams
mish, the hob is, I think, at the usual level. And underneath is a nice roomy wardrobe. Admin, am I right? I dream of an oven at chest level - no need to bend over to it, open it - take it out - conveniently. My kitchen is also big, only now finances ... sing ... and sing ... They have enough for household appliances, but not yet for repairs ...
Admin

Both are wrong

The hob is only 3 cm thick (gas), under it there are just drawers for small things and other things.

The electric oven is at a height of 73 cm from the floor, which turned out to be very convenient, considering that the oven lid folds down, everything is visible and the baking sheet is easy to get out and work with.

Microwave and oven at chest level - bad and inconvenient, it will be very high.
I have a microwave oven at chest level and the lid leans back, I constantly regret that I did this, it is inconvenient to use, especially when a hot or liquid dish needs to be put or taken out.
grandmothers
Admin, you are a fine fellow! Oh, oh, oh! Now I will transfer everything to myself and I will bother our ala-designers. Most of them are blind imitators of posters. Opportunities here are small, for an ordinary person everything is the same, but you don't like to go on like this. I was worn out with bottles and lids, did not know where to attach. Many, many of your kitchen will be useful to me, Thank you very much.
But I have more questions for you. I bought a 45 cm dishwasher, a water filter (GEYSER), and I don’t know how best to attach it. You wrote that you also have a garbage shredder (I'm afraid of it for something), how did you install these gizmos?

Admin and another question about the box for lids and pans, there are grilles only at the bottom of the box or at the end, the picture shows the impression that they are not only one on top of the other, but as if inserted into something horizontally.

All this is taken from the catalogs that the designers themselves offer, I ordered the kitchen through a company that deals with this, and not in Moscow, but in my own Dmitrov.

My dishwasher is 45 cm built into the common panel (countertop), I'm very happy with it, it washes perfectly.
A water filter (even 5 filters) can be built under a sink of 50 cm, like mine. I also have a grinder built into the sink of 50 cm, only you need to take the sink with an offset drain hole to the side (not in the center) then everything will pass. I sat in a home appliance store with a salesperson and selected and calculated all sizes and possibilities with him.
And the kitchen chopper is great! Less food waste in the bucket.

Admin and another question about the box for lids and pans, there are grates only at the bottom of the box or at the end, the picture shows the impression that they are not only one on top of the other, but as if inserted into something horizontally.

The boxes are completely made of metal. rods (so to speak), and what supports are not there, the lids hold exactly due to the fact that with one edge they fall into the holes between the rods, which does not affect their movement and reaching.
The same with the box for pans, only there they are inserted one into the other.
