Candied ginger

Ingredients

ginger root 200 g
sugar (for syrup) 6 tbsp. l.
water (for syrup) 3 tbsp. l.

Cooking method

  • Wash and peel the ginger (I peeled with a spoon). Cut into thin slices. Put in a saucepan, cover with water so that it only slightly covers the plates. Bring to a boil, cook for 5-10 minutes. and drain the water, do this several times (two was enough for me). Cook for the last time for 30 minutes. Drain the ginger water (you can make ginger tea from this broth).
  • Add sugar and water (those for syrup) to the boiled plates. Simmer over medium to high heat, stirring constantly, until the syrup thickens and there is almost nothing left. Take out the plates and roll them in sugar (you can in white, you can in brown). Put on parchment and leave to cool. After 30 minutes, remove the ginger in a jar with a lid.

The dish is designed for

340 gram jar

Note

It turned out quite spicy, but I like it, it is very tasty with tea.
