Ingredients

Lightly salted herring (fillet) 300g
Boiled eggs 3 pcs.
Green onions 1 bundle
Mayonnaise 50g
Red caviar 1 can
Green salad leaves for decoration

Cooking method

  • The New Year is coming soon, maybe you will need my recipe for a simple but tasty snack.
  • Remove the herring fillet from the oil or marinade, drain the liquid, blot the fillet with a napkin. Finely chop the boiled eggs and mash with a fork, mix with chopped green onions, season with a little mayonnaise. Spread this minced meat on each piece of herring fillet, put a few more eggs and roll the fillet into rolls. Put the rolls on a dish lined with green lettuce leaves, and on top of each roll put a slide of red caviar.

The appetizer really looks attractive and probably delicious, BUT! How to stuff such rolls into your mouth? Judging by the photo (if the diameter of the eggs is taken equal to 5 mm), their diameter exceeds 50 mm, and the height with a slide of eggs is 35 mm! The recipe does not indicate that the herring fillets should be cut lengthwise into strips of acceptable width / thickness. And if you make rolls from full-fledged fillets, then they are very oversized.
At the same time, the layer of mayonnaise, onions and eggs is likely to "cement" them badly. They are not fastened with anything, like a sponge, so as not to fall apart when used and, moreover, a slide of caviar, if it is really a slide and really high-quality red caviar, and not some kind of smudge, can crumble in the most vile way at the most inappropriate point of the trajectory on approaching the roll to your mouth after a good shot of cold vodka, thus ruining the festive tablecloth, costume / dress and mood. Cutting such rolls with a knife is also not an option, they will fall apart on a plate and lose all their original charm. And so, in general - nothing recipe ...

lga, rolls can be made in the size you want. I had a fillet of large herring and I cut it lengthwise to make the rolls neat. For example, I eat one roll in two steps.
