recipe from the magazine "Delicious recipes"

Normandy (fr. Normandie, Norman. Normaundie) is a historical region in the north-west of France, which currently covers two regions of the country - Upper Normandy and Lower Normandy. Known for its farms, dairy industry, cheeses such as Camembert, Livaro and Pont-l'Eveque and apple plantations. Apples in one form or another, they are present in almost every recipe. (From Wikipedia - the free encyclopedia)

The Normans (people of the north), they are also Vikings, could not use pepper as a seasoning, since in their era this spice was not known in Europe. They could have at their disposal such plants as mustard, horseradish... Nor did they have starch. Basically!
Perhaps the author of the recipe and its name had in mind the territory of Normandy - a duchy formed by the Normans in northwest France at the end of the 9th century - as the region of origin of this recipe at a later time. Then it's better to call the recipe "Norman Pork".
Little bitter pepper first appeared in Europe when the ship's doctor Christopher Columbus brought an outlandish spice as a gift to the Queen of Spain. At first, as in the homeland of pepper (in Central and South America), it was used as a spice, medicinal and ornamental plant. Spanish aristocrats often adorned clothes and hats with red glossy pepperpods.
It was introduced into culture in the 15th century, in the same place in Spain, and in the 16th century. spread widely throughout Europe as "Spanish pepper". Later, the Chilean hot large-fruited pepper was also brought to the European continent, which, unlike the small-fruited, had a more elongated shape and the top of its fruit was slightly twisted.

A very tempting recipe. I also bought a multi-cook "MAGNIT" not long ago. Now I'm getting used to it. I have a question. Should the apples be stewed along with the meat, or should they be fresh?
Violochka
how interesting .... I think that I will definitely try, the combination was very intriguing! I wanted a multicooker even more
Omela
natusik33 , simmer until apples are soft. I added it to the recipe.

Violochka , a slow cooker is a must! But you can just put it out on the stove.

I also carry my thanks for the recipe!
Made in the cartoon by Oursson and the meat was beef. Everything else is strictly according to the recipe ...
I was worried about how the combination of beef and apples would be ... It turned out - in vain, the result pleased, it turned out tasty and aromatic!
Omela
Lily, good health !! Glad you liked it!

Dear Mistletoe, thank you again for your recipes. I did it without deviating from the recipe (on the stove in a saucepan with a thick bottom), my whole retrograde family liked it. The next day it tasted even better when cold, especially with white homemade bread. The apple juice was homemade from Antonovka.
Omela
Ashelen, Alena, I'm glad that I liked it !!! And even with your juice !!!

: rose: Dear Omelochka, thank you for such a treat. I will definitely try to do it in the near future. The ham is lying in the freezer and waiting in the wings. I love to bake a bird with apples, now I will try to make pork with apples in a slow cooker. or a pressure cooker!
Omela
velli, Valentina, I will be glad if you like it!
