Jam from green tomatoes with orange

Ingredients

Green tomatoes 1 kg. (processed)
Fresh orange 1 large with skin
Fresh lemon 0.5 pcs. with skin
Fresh ginger 2 cm approx
White sugar 600-700 grams to taste

Cooking method

  • Sort the tomatoes, wash, cut off the defective parts.

  • Cut the tomatoes into small wedges, put them in a saucepan with a thick bottom, cover with sand, shake, cover with a towel and leave for 12-24 hours until the tomatoes give juice.

  • Pour hot jam into jars, close the lids and put to cool on the lids.
  • Jam prepares well, quickly turns into a thick jam mass, an important condition to remove its own juice and liquid from the mass.

Note

The taste of the jam is pleasant, slightly sour, with an orange flavor. The smell of a tomato green appears when you open the jar. And so, there is no obvious taste and smell of green tomatoes!
If required, you can adjust the taste of the jam with the amount of lemon, 0.5 lemon was enough for me.

No, you don't feel ginger, it is so lightly combined with an orange, and an orange is even more.

After the addition of ginger and orange is done and slightly boiled, remove the taste sample, and you can adjust both ginger and lemon to taste. I always do this - everything to your taste!
You can skip completely in mashed potatoes through a sieve, grind with a blender until mashed potatoes - but I like orange in small pieces in jam, when you feel it a little on the bite
