Lemon flowers

Ingredients

Wheat flour 240g.
Butter 140g.
Sugar 160g.
Juice of 1 lemon 75g.
Zest of 1 lemon
Baking powder* 1h l.
Powdered sugar for dusting

Cooking method

  • Mix flour with lemon zest, sugar and baking powder. (* There is no baking powder in the original recipe, but I was afraid without it.)
  • Add melted butter and grind until crumbly.
  • Pour in lemon juice. Knead a soft dough.
  • Fold the dough into a bag and leave in the refrigerator until hardened (1-2 hours).
  • Sprinkle the table with flour, roll the dough into a layer and cut out cookies with molds.
  • Place on a baking sheet lined with paper.
  • Bake in an oven preheated to 200C until golden brown for about 20 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven.
  • Sprinkle the finished flowers with icing sugar.

Note

"Tsukrovi" (cukroví) - from the word "tsukr" - sugar. These are sweets baked in every home for Christmas. It is difficult to describe them in one word: these are cookies, mini-waffles, gingerbread cookies, and meringues. Czech housewives bake them long before Christmas, even during the Christmas fast (Advent), so that the biscuits lie down for Christmas and become crumbly. Taught by a fresh frost, holiday sweets simply melt in your mouth even a month after Christmas and remind you of the bygone holiday with their unique (each housewife has her own secrets!) Taste. If you come to the Czech Republic in December-January, you will certainly be treated to "tsukrovim". It is a tradition: to exchange cute bags of cookies, offering each other more and more new recipes. And each mistress has her own. There can be up to 10 different types of flowers on the Christmas table.

Freesia, we got real Christmas cookies !!! My dough was also soft. You can either keep it in the refrigerator for a longer time, or add flour when kneading. And it is stored for a long time ... if you hide it far!
