Herring under a fur coat with apples or my father's "signature" recipe.

Ingredients

Lightly salted herring 1 PC.
Bulb onions 1 large head
Yablako Antonovskoe (or other sour variety) 1 large
Lemon juice
Beet 1 large or 2 medium
Hard boiled eggs 2-3 pcs.
Mayonnaise
Greens optional

Cooking method

  • A bit of background.
  • There are many recipes for this dish, but my dad and my family most of all like the recipe of my dad, who jokingly calls it his "specialty", because everyone who tries it then sits down on it and every time going to visit us asks: " Will your dad make his signature herring under a fur coat? " And this is very encouraging! Although initially, when people hear that apples are included in the composition, they usually fuku, they say, "fuuu ... this is gross!" But ... then they try and the magic happens - everyone gets hooked on the herring batin! And I'm glad because there is one less holiday dish on my to-do list - my dad will cook it while I do the rest! Anyway, my daddy is a great assistant in the kitchen! How many salads we cut with him, how many cakes we baked! He was always on hand while he lived in our family! May God grant you, daddy, long and good health! I love you very much and miss you!
  • Now let's get down to business:
  • Disassemble the herring from the seeds and chop finely and finely, practically to dust!
  • Cut the onion into small cubes and pour boiling water for 5-10 minutes, so that all the bitterness would go away.
  • Boil the beets, cool, peel and grate. Mix generously with mayonnaise as if you were making beetroot.
  • Wash a large sour apple, peel and grate on a coarse grater.
  • Hard boil the eggs, peel and chop finely.
  • Let's start assembling!
  • Spread the herring on a flat dish with a thin layer, lightly sprinkle it with lemon juice on the scalded onion and grease with a layer of mayonnaise.
  • Next, we put the grated apple. On it is a good layer of grated beets mixed with mayonnaise.
  • Let the herring stand for 6 hours. Sprinkle with finely chopped eggs before serving. Can be decorated with finely chopped green onions.
  • In my photo, the eggs have already been colored from beets, because I hastened to chop them on a dish in advance.
  • Herring under a fur coat with apples or my father's "signature" recipe.
  • Bon Appetit!

Note

For the photo I apologize, there was no normal fotik at hand.

My mom also makes a fur coat with an apple, only layers of potatoes, herring, beets, apple, egg, mayonnaise, and again, like that. Yabldoko is very refreshing

There are many recipes, that's for sure. But for some reason we do not like the herring under a fur coat with a shell, I don’t know why, because we just love the herring with onions in oil with vinegar and boiled potatoes!

I, too, always make with an apple, certainly green, sour - we cannot find Antonovka ... But I also put carrots
The apple really brings a fresh touch!

I add chopped walnuts and sometimes a small pickled cucumber to this salad. And also a sour apple, but not rubbing, but cutting it into very small cubes. It happens that I can do without potatoes and carrots so that the salad is not bland.

And I thought that only I do with apples

HURRAH!!! There are a lot of us!!! And then everyone at first fucks on the voice acting of the composition, they don't even want to try! Silly people ... But when they try, then ... you can't drag them by the ears.

Thanks for the recipe! I prepared it. The taste is very harmonious, lighter than the traditional recipe.

Yes Yes!!! : nyam: agree! My little one is only cracking this herring in an unlimited number! Loves her sooooo much!

A very interesting recipe, non-standard. I "onstandardized" it even more, replacing herring with baked mackerel. Traditionally Romin apple mayonnaise. The absence of potatoes and carrots in the composition changes the taste of a familiar dish beyond recognition. The taste is very fresh, almost springy.
I take the salad. Many thanks to you and your dad!
