Ingredients

Wheat flour 2 1/2 tbsp.
Buttermilk (I have milk with 3 teaspoons of lemon juice) 1 1/2 tbsp.
Butter 30 gr.
Chicken eggs (large) 2 pcs.
Sugar 1/2 tbsp.
Salt 1/2 tsp
Soda 1/2 tsp
Baking powder 2 tsp
Ground cardamom 1/4 tsp
Vanilla extract (I have vanilla sugar) 1 tsp
Almond extract (not added) 1/2 tsp
Filling
Fresh figs 3-8 pcs.
Almonds (replaced with other nuts) 1/2 tbsp.
Sugar 3 tbsp. l.
Sprinkling
Powdered sugar 2-3 st. l.

Cooking method

  • The recipe was taken from the blog of American Joy Wilson, who published the Joy the Baker Cookbook.
  • The book received nominations and awards for "Best Baking & Dessert Blog of 2011" and one of the "Top Fifty Food Blogs in the World" by the London Times. In my opinion it is clear. Anyone interested can follow the link-
  • There are a lot of fig pies, but I have not found anything like this in the Cyrillic segment of the Internet.
  • I slightly changed the recipe for the composition of the products that I had in stock.

  • Buttermilk replaced with 1.5% milk, adding almost 3 tsp. lemon juice. Stirred and let stand 5 minutes until thickened.

  • She extinguished the soda with a few drops of lemon juice. Replaced almonds with walnuts and pine nuts. Vanilla-vanilla sugar extract. No almond extract was added.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and cardamom.

  • In a small cup, stir in the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla and almond extracts.

  • Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients, knead well.

  • Put the dough in a baking dish. Put the halves of the figs on top, cut upwards. Do not press hard, it will fail under its own weight. The amount of figs depends on their size. In my opinion, the more, the tastier. Sprinkle nuts on top and 3 tbsp. l. Sahara.

  • Bake in the oven at 180 C until tender. Cool down.
