In the absence of the necessary exotic flour at affordable prices, I thought about finding and buying such a unit. To make at home rye flour, whole grain, buckwheat, corn, etc. I started looking in Yandex, but only semi-industrial expensive devices come across. Can someone tell me where to start searching, or are there happy owners on the site who will share their impressions?
Sveta
On the advice of the members of the forum, I bought a Brown millstone coffee grinder. And now I am completely happy - I always have whole grain flour: both wheat and rye. I buy wheat at the bazaar (it is better to take the same as for kutia, it is more dried) The flour is great and effortless. I must say that somehow on occasion I managed to buy c / w flour made in Estonia - and as a result I threw out all three bags - it was somehow rotten, with a smell, I did not like it. And what it turns out to be done with the help of this mill is just super, the products made from such flour are great, and how useful !! I recommend to all!

What a great coffee grinder idea! Is this Braun KMM 30 Aromatic by any chance?
Sveta
I don't remember the name, Brown - exactly. Look on the Internet (Brown has one millstone), or find a topic on the forum, there is an exact name, and I was guided by it when buying. I have had it for several months. I use it only for beans, for coffee I have a separate small, ordinary one. I highly recommend it! And so easy: fell asleep, turned on and wait (that is, not like in a regular coffee grinder).

Is it possible to make powdered sugar with the help of a millstone coffee grinder?
Rezlina
Quote: tanya1962

You can make powdered sugar with Rezlina, but if you just want to get rid of the grinder. Technically, I cannot explain this completely to a layman in technology, but I ruined one coffee grinder so much. The master said because he ground sugar into powder. Now in stores, powdered sugar is sold everywhere, it's not like before when it was not at all.

Have you spoiled an ordinary coffee grinder or a millstone?
I have had a conventional coffee grinder for many years. I used it mainly for making powdered sugar, nuts. And everything was fine until I ground the coarse sea salt there and left it in it. So this salt corroded all the metal. So now we need to change.
Tanyusha
Rezlina is an ordinary coffee grinder, there the whole mechanism was clogged with powder, I think that the same thing with a millstone, maybe I think it's better not to risk it. I already buy powder in the store.
Mams
I also killed a regular coffee grinder with powdered sugar. When grinding sugar, the screw heats up at the base. The sugar is melted and this syrup is poured directly into the base. Cooling down caramelized. And that's all. Jams tightly. End of the grinder.

Girls, tell me!
I lost the instruction from the millstone brown, I can't figure out the smallest grind - which number is it? 1 or the last one?
Bagel
I don’t know about killing coffee grinders, I have an ordinary coffee grinder - a cheap Vitek - they gave me ... I don’t pray coffee on it, I don’t like it, it burns, but I pray sugar, cinnamon in sticks, some spices .. all the plastic is already outside in cracks , and she plows .. maybe it's just the scale of production of sugar powder?
UmSabir
Rustic stove, in brown 1 finest grind, 145 the largest. There are also dots marked with small, medium and large
Now I ground corn grits and wheat on it at the finest grinding, I will experiment today)))))))))

Today I bought such a coffee grinder in the Technosila store near the Bibirevo metro station. The price is 1353 rubles.

Bagel, well, not a small factory for the production of powdered sugar ... I did it a couple of times to sprinkle apple pie. That is, a couple of times she twisted ...
Apparently, for powdered sugar (if you don't buy it in a store) you need to buy a really cheap one ... The same Vitek or some Scarlet ...

Has been using the Brown Burr Grinder since December 2007.
Today I tried to grind flour in a mill, which I bought as an accessory for a Bosch A47 combine. Brown is resting forever now. I ground not only wheat, as always, but also rice flour. On this occasion, I set up to bake rice bread according to the modernized recipe of members of the forum (with the addition of ready-made spices for pilaf). The mill with stone millstones cost about 500 UAH to be delivered to Odessa, I can't say for sure, since I immediately bought a food processor and other accessories to it.

Does Brown grind rice? Are there Boshevsky mills or only attachments for combines? Thanks for the answer.
UmSabir
I don’t know how Bosch grinds, but the Brownian coffee grinder makes good whole grain flour. I ground the first portion from spring wheat, and yesterday from winter wheat. I also ground corn flour. The bread is tall and tasty. Of course Bosch should grind super, because the millstones are stone and the price is appropriate))))))

Does Brown grind rice?

Grinds rice perfectly.

Nat_ka, thanks for the idea! After all, Delongy, it seems to me, is more reliable than Brown: we already have three teapots from Brown broken, they are not accepted for repairs in Ukraine, in the end we just threw them away (each cost more than 500 UAH). Therefore, I don't really trust this company. And here, it turns out, there are not only Brown coffee grinders on sale! Hurrah!
Hope
And to me, Delongy's coffee grinder seemed kind of flimsy. Bought Brown. The price was the same. I have been using the Brown meat grinder for 5 years and am very pleased with it. Hopefully, they do the coffee grinder well.

How glad I am to have bought a Brown coffee grinder !!! Yesterday I ground some buckwheat and baked buckwheat bread with nuts according to Yeleno4ka's recipe, for the penultimate time I baked this bread with Belovodyevsk buckwheat flour, the roof was flat. Today, with homemade flour, the bread is perfect!
I also tried whole grain bread 400 g of whole grain ground flour and 100 g of 1st grade flour with raisins and seeds - the result was pleasing.

Grinds very well, it has 14 coffee grinding modes, including 1-7 espresso, then the grinding went coarser up to position 14 filter coffee? I grind coffee at 7th position, ok.
Here is the look of the grinder. Sorry for the photo, I was in a hurry, I think it can be used to draw an appropriate conclusion.

I love the way she grinds. You can always find the right grind. You have to choose for different types of coffee, but it's even interesting

sorry for the stupid question - and from what did you grind it?
(i.e.I understand that it is made of corn, but in what form and where to buy dry corn I saw only in packs "for popcorn")

Corn groats are sold in packages of 1 kg (the same grind as barley groats).
UmSabir
I ground the corn grits first from the corn grits. And then I bought corn semolina at 9 rubles per kg (polenta?) And ground it into flour in 2 minutes))))

I still wanted to buy a grain grinder, for example "Kolos". It costs 1.5 -1.8 tons. But I won't get to the market. I planned to grind the grain on it into fine chaff, and then grind it on brown until flour. But brown did not wait (((I worked for a month. Under warranty. How would the service center not refuse to repair it for free, because I decided to grind the grain instead of coffee?)

Girls! Well, respond!
It's definitely not dust. I ground it into dust at 1 speed, and the flour turned out to be wallpaper if the grain was ground. Here I handed over my coffee grinder to the SC. The verdict will be delivered tomorrow.
Bambr
I read it, just amazed, like adults ... Have you even read the instructions for the coffee grinder? It is simply not intended for flour and such grinding volumes, it is written on my Bocsh (millstone) - no more than 10-12 servings (1 container) at a time, then a break, 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, you will be wrapped in the SC, because traces of flour and a burnt engine will be found ...

Rezlina, how are you doing with the grinder? I have the same problem, I wanted to grind coffee into dust so that I could brew it in Shokoladnitsa, and I thought I would grind cereals, but it was not there! I also grind such large pieces of coffee at first speed, and I haven't even tried cereals, because if you grind them, the guarantee disappears automatically.
What to do? A defective coffee grinder? Or maybe that kind of coffee?
GruSha
For the Kenwood kitchen machine, there is also such a grinder mill.

"Quickly processes cereals, beans, rice, wheat or millet into fresh homemade flour
Ideal for making flour from low-gluten cereals "

Grind a new coffee grinder not into dust ((((((((Large-sized. I'm going to adjust to the service center. Rezlina, how does your coffee grinder grind after adjustment in the SC?
Scarecrow
I have a Kitchen Aid (planetary mixer). There are a bunch of different attachments (additionally purchased) to it, among which there are mills (more precisely, two or two types). Judging by the way he mixes, the flour will grind qualitatively. True, I cannot understand the difference between these two mills, and I cannot yet determine whether it is necessary for me either.

Household Grain Grinder
Scarecrow
It costs about 15 thousand, I think. And the nozzles themselves are expensive ... The mill on the left costs 5 and a half, and on the right - more than six, although its appearance is less impressive ...

Description of one mill:
"The attachment mill, metal, has a graduated scale for adjusting the grinding, intended for all types of grains and also for small amounts of oil, such as poppy seeds and flax seeds."
and another:
"Burr type: the degree of grinding is adjustable from coarse to superfine. Makes it possible to prepare freshly ground flour from grains and legumes with a low moisture content (rice, millet, wheat, corn, peas, legumes)"

What is the difference? By type? A millstone and ... what?
Scarecrow
Then the millstone is better, do I understand correctly? Moreover, I even saw it on sale, but then I did not like it.

I agree, it is expensive, but a powerful piece of iron ...

Honestly by "search" I tried to find an answer to the question that arose, but it did not work, now I will try to ask here
Craftsmen who make their own whole grain flour, a question for you. I have a Kenwood mill attachment (for KM 010), wheat is sold on the market. I want to try whole grain flour. I am confused by the sight of the wheat. She's dirty. On kutya I wash the wheat and you can see very clearly what kind of water is "clean" ... but then it is boiled, and then ... Can I wash it? Has anyone done this? Then it must be dried, apparently? But in what way, so that it does not become moldy, and does not lose its quality ... Can someone tell me?

You cannot buy grain on the market, it is feed grain for feed to pets and poultry.
This grain can be contaminated, harmful to humans. Shop at health food stores. Platypus has whole grain flour and Indian spice shop. Make a request on and-no.

I live in Donetsk, unfortunately, we do not have either whole grain flour or "correct" grain on sale in stores. Not even oatmeal, only cereal for sale. But everyone buys wheat for kutya at the market. Maybe it is somehow different from one another? Don't you know? I have never bought it myself.

If you give a quick answer, then the market feed grain is contaminated and is not suitable for humans, I already wrote about this somewhere, you have to look.

I don’t know how in other cities, but in our Riga market grain is sold for people. And not in one place, but in several, so there is even competition, and therefore a choice. When we first started trading in household mills, I asked the seller who buys from them such an uncommon commodity as grain? The answer was simple and quite logical, many people buy wheat and sprout it. Sprouted wheat, as you know, is very healthy. We have one entrepreneur even doing business on this, buys grain on the market, sprouts it and delivers it to supermarkets. Some compassionate grannies buy grain for pigeons, and some for themselves, soar, cook, etc. We also have many who cannot afford sausage with bread.
They buy less for fodder for cattle or poultry in our city, but in rural bazaars they buy in bags. There, of course, the quality is not very good, a lot of straw or husk comes across, but it is cheaper, so the grain is called fodder, the cattle does not seem to care.
It can be infected from improper storage, mold, fungus, or something from mice. brrr ....

We cannot sell feed grain in the capital market due to high veterinary requirements. Food grains are sold in the vegetable pavilion already packaged, or they will be poured in as much as necessary. In this case, they use transparent bags. It is enough to take the bag in hand and look at the quality. There you can immediately see whether it is clean or not.

If it is dumb to buy grain at the bazaar, then surely not far from the city there will be a peasant who, for a certain fee, will gladly share the grain with you. And I am sure that he will sell the best quality. Just be sure to say what's for yourself for food.
Firstly, he will be interested in new clients, and secondly, you will know where to look for him if something goes wrong.
Admin

Grind with these in very small quantities and not often, no more than only 100 grams, this is enough for adding, for example, buckwheat flour for buckwheat bread, see recipes.

In the future, save money to buy normal equipment for grinding flour and cereals. This was also discussed at the forum.
paipal
As for whether to wash or not wash, we can say the following, if the grain is for germination, then you can wash it, and if for grinding, then you must immediately choose clean grain, without earth, dust, sand and dirt. As mentioned above, food grains.
paipal
I have not tried it, but it seems to me that if the grain is washed, it will very quickly absorb a lot of moisture. Even if you leave it to dry later, the grain will absorb water into itself, and problems may arise during grinding. The millstones will clog faster.
Well, except that quickly dry with a hairdryer!

I imagine someone will now open a new topic about which household dryers are best for drying grain.

What? We are such Production of meat, dairy and bakery products at home, GIVE !!! Unfortunately, this is not a luxury, but a means of survival
So, what conclusions have I come to ... Before being puzzled by the choice of a mill, it is necessary to conduct a market research for the availability of suitable raw materials for processing. I least expected that living in Ukraine would get such a problem. It turned out that there was one vendor in the grain market who had edible grain. And then, not often.
Thanks to Admin, thanks to her I didn't buy a devil
Sveta
I also join the discussion. I also have a Brown Mill and have been making c / w flour for several months now. At the bazaar I take wheat TO THE KUTYA (because there is still one for germination, so it is just dirty, as the forum users said). It turns out great. Once I bought an Estonian c / z flour for the occasion. I threw out all three bags! It's not comparable to mine. Yes, and one more tip: I grind a little, 500-600 grams. After grinding, the flour is warm, so I pouring it into a jar, I give it time to cool down, stirring it a couple of times from time to time so that it does not become wet. Now I also bought rye and make c / z rye flour. Here rye flour is more clogged, I sift it in a fine colander to remove the dust. But you can't wash the grain!
