Bream Chorba - Lentil Soup

Ingredients

Garlic 2 slices
Bulb onions 1 PC
Carrot 1 PC
Potatoes 1 PC
Paprika 1 tsp
Savory (chubritsa) 1 tsp
Basil 1 tsp
A tomato 1 PC
Vegetable oil 4 tbsp
Salt Taste
Lentils 200 g
Water 2 liters
Lemon for serving

Cooking method

  • My family loves Bulgarian cuisine very much. When I visit this country, I constantly admire the richness of tastes. I especially like the fact that each dish has its own regional differences. Lentil soup is no exception. It can be vegetarian or meat-based. In the north of the country, you will be served it sprinkled with grated kashkaval (hard milk cheese), in the central regions, this soup will be served with a lot of parsley, and in the south with lemon.
  • Chop the onion into small cubes. Carrots and potatoes - sticks. I shredded on a shredder with a julienne insert. Chop the tomato, chop the garlic medium-sized. Heat a saucepan with a thick bottom over medium heat. Pour in vegetable oil and warm slightly. Then lay in turn garlic, onion, carrots, dried savory and basil, paprika, salt, stirring each time. Add potatoes and lentils. It is very important that the lentils are fast-digesting. I had a red Mistral. Cover with water, bring to a boil. Check for salt. Boil until the lentils are boiled. It took me 25 minutes. Serve with lemon.
