Cabbage rolls are lazy in the oven

Ingredients

chicken fillet 720-750gr
fresh cabbage 550-600gr
fresh carrots (1 medium) 150gr
onion (1 medium) 80gr
champignons (optional option - 3pcs) 50gr
dry rice (medium or round grain) 130gr
butter 40gr
small egg 1 PC.
salt
ground black pepper
sauce:
tomato paste 60gr
fat sour cream 150gr
sugar 15-20gr
water 400ml / gr
salt taste

Cooking method

  • Since I was preparing them, I decided to put them out at the same time. Once upon a time I would fry them each and then stew them. At the same time, I finely chopped the cabbage, doused it with boiling water, then waited to dry (otherwise a lot of liquid gets into the stuffed cabbage). In short, these were never lazy stuffed cabbage rolls for labor costs, but terrible horror, albeit delicious))). Then smart people taught me how to do it in the oven (thanks a lot to Milda from Stella's forum, who, in turn, spied on Marfusha from Karina's forum). For some reason, this brilliant idea did not occur to me: I thought that everything would be terribly dry. But now this method has become a hit with me. I have not stewed them for a long time, but baked them. And when I finally got lazy (I'm a terrible person, yeah), I also run everything through a meat grinder. So ...
  • If you have an electric grinder, you are a lucky person. And if mechanical - then less happy, but with strong hands))).
  • 1. In short, we pass everything except the rice and the ingredients for the sauce through a meat grinder. It turns out such a funny stuffing. Cabbage often goes a little tough through a meat grinder. I cut all the ingredients in advance on a board into pieces and slices that go into the neck of my meat grinder and throw vegetables in turn with strips of fillets. Fillet "greases" the meat grinder and everything slips perfectly.
  • Cabbage rolls are lazy in the oven
  • 2. Add the egg, salt, pepper, add dry rice, butter and mix well. I both chop and knead in the Kitchen Aid bowl. Minced meat is not tight, very soft, sticks to hands, but keeps its shape (more is not needed). You can take any meat at your discretion. Butter is added if made from very lean meat (chicken fillet is just that). If you have meat / minced meat with fat, you can skip the butter.
  • Cabbage rolls are lazy in the oven
  • 3. Grease a baking sheet / mold with vegetable oil, sculpt cabbage rolls. Fold your palm in a boat: here the cabbage roll should fit snugly into the recess (10-12 cm long). They should lie tightly in shape, not like mine! The fact is that the juice should evaporate as little as possible, and the more free space, the thinner it is located and the easier it evaporates and starts to burn.
  • Cabbage rolls are lazy in the oven
  • 4. We put the baking sheet in the oven at a temperature of 200g for 40 minutes. I use the traditional oven mode (the upper and lower heating elements work).
  • 5. Mix the sauce and fill it with stuffed cabbage. Another 15-20 minutes in the oven. If you let it brew after removing from the oven for half an hour, it’s great.
  • You can do the same with shredded cabbage. Cabbage rolls will be looser and not as dense as from "minced meat". But several times I ran into reinforced concrete cabbage, which was simply not prepared for the specified time. It must be extinguished beforehand. But these are never lazy, but very troublesome cabbage rolls))).

Kirks
Natasha, thanks for the recipe, read in your topic that you are making lazy cabbage rolls but did not ask for the recipe, out of modesty I love your recipes, they always come out the first time.
Scarecrow
Oh, thanks for the praise, nice, yeah))).

I then put them in a bowl, pour all the remaining sauce from the baking sheet, close the lid and leave to infuse for a while.

If the rice is semi-cooked, it will be juicier, because it strongly takes the juice from vegetables during the cooking process. If the shredded cabbage is also juicier, but for every firefighter you can stew it down (you can simultaneously with the rice, which is half-boiled). And this option is the fastest. I drove everything through a meat grinder and stuck it on.

Oh, how cool! For me, too, it has always been a mystery, what is the "laziness" of this preparation, which you described at the beginning of the recipe. But this method seems to be really lazy. I'll try.
Natasha, thanks for the recipe!
Scarecrow
gala10,

Galya, if you have multicooker, everything becomes much easier, to be honest. I boiled the same chopped cabbage with rice together in a fast program in a Panasonic rice cooker. Just pouring less. what is needed according to the rate of water and it turned out exactly half-finished cabbage and half-finished rice (I cut it down with a statement about an error))). Then she opened it, mixed it and let the mixture cool and "dry". Then minced meat, an egg, etc. That still looked like lazy people. But when everything was done by hand, they were not lazy, really))).
marina-asti
Wow, well, wow "lazy" you have them! All the time you slander yourself, but in vain!

Here are my lazy ones - they cut it, put everything in a cartoon, pressed a button ... waited, opened it and ate it)
Scarecrow
marina-asti,

))) I do these too. In the Cuckoo. It works out great, I'll show you the topic, in:

https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/index.php@option=com_smf&topic=80018.0

Mine are eaten by any. Sometimes they like these cutlets like this.
marina-asti
Here! Aha! I also do this when there is no time - fortunately, the husband eats everything, smacking his lips and praising his wife)
And in the oven I often do the same in meaning and form, only without cabbage, but with onions, carrots, rice - I don't even know what to call it ..
At best, a spoonful of sour cream with garlic on top of the blobs, and in the oven! Especially when a kindergarten is going to the house, it is very convenient, fast, tasty, satisfying.

and when I'm not too lazy to tinker, I like to twist dolma.
Tumanchik
Expensive, thanks! I will definitely take note. We have a non-hybrid cabbage, but I learned to soften it in the microwave instantly right in the pump. and then immediately into the meat grinder. I will definitely do so!
Tumanchik
I have always said that progress is lazy!

,, I learned to soften it in the microwave instantly right in the swing. and then immediately into the meat grinder. ,, If possible, this place is a little more detailed.

Sure, not a problem. The cuts are deep at the stump, so that later the leaves can be removed. Put the cabbage in a regular plastic bag and turn it at the highest power. I have 800 10-15 minutes. After the first try, you will understand. I am Ira, with me on you!
Kirks
Irina, and the package in the microwave does not burn?

no, don't worry

It seems to me that after a head of cabbage has been softened, it can be simply cut into cabbage rolls - it should not puff up in different directions, it becomes soft.
NataliARH
Scarecrow, a wonderful thing, I do just such! but you very rarely see, cabbage gives off a smell when the husband eats at work, the employees do not like it! when email I didn't have a meat grinder, then I ground it in a chopper attachment from a blender, such tiny, tiny pieces are obtained
Scarecrow
NataliARH,

Or hedgehogs (i.e. rice, minced meat, carrots, onions, the same tomato and sour cream filling) and no cabbage. No less delicious, everyone did it in my childhood. Nobody will smell anything.

oh Nata our cabbage needs to be stewed for half a day. Hedgehog hybrid .. So I have a recipe for it!
NataliARH
Nata, hedgehogs are understandable! of course they don't smell) another interesting moment: in ordinary stuffed cabbage, the husband throws away cabbage, only eats the stuffing, and in the lazy ones he also eats cabbage))) throwing out uncomfortable small pieces
Lerele
And I chop the cabbage with knives in the combine, then pour boiling water in it, then fiddle with the meat, and the cabbage at this time softens in the boiling water, then I pour the cabbage into a sieve and put it in the minced meat. It may not be as lazy as in a meat grinder, but I don't have it, so it will work that way, as for me, and does not really increase the cooking time.
lappl1
Nata, I am very grateful for the recipe for darlings. My husband is very fond of traditional stuffed cabbage rolls, and I really do not like to cook them because of all the preparatory procedures. They harvested a large harvest of cabbage and the husband again started his song about love for stuffed cabbage. I remembered this recipe. I chopped cabbage and everything else in a combine. Rice was poured with boiling water beforehand. The "cutlets" were perfectly molded, they didn't even stick to your hands. The only deviation from the recipe is fried carrots and onions. Without this credit there would not have been. In general, everything turned out so delicious that my husband said that he was ready to eat it every day and forgive me my laziness. Well, everyone is not everyone, but now I will cook very often.
Nata, thanks a lot from me for the recipe. From her husband too.

Cabbage rolls are lazy in the oven

This time not through a meat grinder, but simply cut and stewed it along with the rice in a cartoon. Not until tender, but soft. It's just that the meat was already minced, so there was no point in getting the meat grinder.

what I want to say on the essence of the recipe, I needed cabbage almost twice as much
and you ask how so, Tanya?
but I will answer how so, I quenched the cabbage, I think it’s hot, I’ll put it in a bowl to cool down, while I’m reading the forum and stirring it with a fork, so that it cools faster ...

I did them the day before yesterday. Sliced and braised cabbage. Everything is perfect, but I managed to overload the tomato. somehow it turned out sharply. But very pretty, yeah.

Today I wanted stuffed cabbage to impatience. Prepared with slight deviations from the recipe.
1.shredded cabbage
2.fried onions with carrots
3 and replaced the sour cream for the sauce with 10% cream.

Nata, You first simmer the cabbage rolls for 40 minutes, and only then pour the sauce and simmer for another 15-20 minutes? And if it is not right to pour the sauce right away, or the sauce starts to burn?
Scarecrow
velli,

I think that the sauce will evaporate during this time and begin to burn. There will be no sauce as such.
velli
Nata, I will do my darlings tomorrow according to yours. THANK YOU for such krasatulki and for a detailed description of how you make them!
