Glaze:
honey 3st. l.
lemon juice 2st. l.
sugar 50gr

Cooking method

  • I decided to move the recipe from the topic about baking dishes, because there we just lose it)))
  • Recipe from packaging from the form of Nordic Ware "Honeycomb". The recipe was in English, translated and reproduced by me.
  • Form with a volume of 2.4 liters, size 26 by 28 cm (the very depression for a cake, without handles), height - 5.5 cm. Calculate your forms. It rises strongly - 2.5-3 times.
  • Preheat the oven to 175 degrees, grease the mold, powder it with flour a little visible and set it aside.
  • Mix flour with baking powder and soda, salt. Set aside.
  • Beat butter and sugar until whitened. Add eggs one at a time, mix with flour mixture, sour cream and zest. Mix everything for 1 minute on low mixer speed, then 2 minutes on medium speed. Distribute the dough in a mold and bake for 45-55 minutes at 175 degrees, until the toothpick comes out dry and clean from the piece.
  • Glaze: mix all the ingredients and simply heat until the honey / sugar is completely dissolved (not to boiling water!).
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it stand for 10 minutes. Turn over and shake out. Spread warm frosting on a warm cake.
  • My notes: soda can be reduced. When baking, there is a very strong soda spirit (more precisely, the gases that are obtained from the reaction of soda with sour cream acid). But in the cooled and weathered cake it is not felt, but a slight aftertaste hint remains. I taste okay, but I know there are people. who do not like him very much. The texture of the cake is lush, with a solid pronounced taste. The frosting is completely absorbed into the top of the cake.
  • No sugar was added to the glaze. In my opinion, this is already too much with sweets)). I was ready with convection at 165g in 40 minutes.
