In this topic, we propose to exhibit do-it-yourself cuttings for gingerbread, and share the secrets of making them.
You can also display original and simple gingerbread templates and stencils for any occasion.

We create, brag, discuss, share experiences.

Dear residents of our forum!

Earnest request. Posting one post is one job.

In order for everyone to be comfortable and pleasant to communicate here, we suggest adhering to the RULES.
There are few of them and they are very simple. So,

TOPIC RULES:

  • At first, questions unrelated to the discussion of the exhibited works, we try to ask
    in relevant topics.

  • Secondly, our traditional rule: ONE POST - ONE JOB, that is, in one post we expose a photo and description of only one type of felling or one method of their manufacture (if there are several molds).

Or in one post, you can combine cuttings and / or stencils of the same type of gingerbread, for example, only hares or only bears, in order to make it more convenient to use the table of contents of the topic

How to make homemade gingerbread or flower molds. 2 ways of fastening
Mona1
Thank you, Alyonochka! The subject is very necessary!

And yesterday I bought a strip of plastic on the market (the piece was in scraps that no one needed, 65 centimeters long, they gave me 5 hryvnias, but I twisted my nose, said - that not, let’s for 2 hryvnias, otherwise this scrap is still nobody As a result, for 2 hryvnias I built such 4 molds .. Today I also bought a piece a little longer in the same place, 6 pieces are enough.

Now more about the material from which I made the cuttings. I bought just such a thing, called CORNER, this is a strip of 5 cm (there is less), and in the middle there is a groove, and along this groove this strip is bent with a corner (for some construction purposes). I cut along this groove with scissors.
The result is strips 2.5 cm wide, the coolest, in my opinion, thickness. They are not the same as plastic, for example, for plastic windows, but more flexible like. Here's a picture of today's piece (part of the piece, the whole piece did not fit into the photo), they are of different colors, in the whole form they are sold - these are strips of 2 m 60 cm long and often a person, for example, takes 2 m, but the scrap remains, so that no one will buy anymore (well, except for such crazy people like me)

Although the strips are bent, they will not be able to give a shape like that, they break. I read about plastic on the internet, that it needs to be heated to 80-100 degrees, so that the plastic becomes malleable. You can warm it up with a hairdryer, but it seemed to me that it would take a long time, and I just twisted the pattern around with a measuring tape, found out the length of the strip I needed, added 0.5 cm to this just in case. I cut a piece of the desired length from the strip. Then she boiled water, threw this piece in there, for about three minutes it softened there to the desired softness. Well, then I pulled it out with silicone tongs and quickly tried to wrap the patterns around it. But this should be done sooo quickly, because after 2 seconds. the plastic hardens again and in general, I had to suffer. But the shapes of eggs and pies are not complicated, in principle, but those, where there are many corners of sharp and all sorts of frills, so probably you need to somehow warm up with sections somehow, not boiling water, maybe really with a hairdryer. Or I have a curling iron lying around somewhere since Soviet times, just wrap it with a cloth, or something, otherwise it heats up much more than 100 degrees, the plastic can melt and stick to it. In general, I will do further experiments.

Mona1thanks for the experience! we will wait for the results of your experiments
ledi
And I, and I with you!

Tanya, I also needed small eggs. so I cut out a suitable size with a round notch, and then adjusted it to the shape of the drawn egg. still easier than cutting with a knife
I already wrote that eggs are very easy to make from a tin round can. You don't even need adaptations. The main thing is to carefully open it along the edge, evenly, and then bend it in the shape of an egg with your hands, without devices! And if there are hands that can cut it, then it's generally super. It turns out an egg and a round mold
Homemade gingerbread cutters. Templates and stencils A large egg from a jar in which cakes were baked more than once, had to be cut off, it was necessary urgently. Therefore, it is dark inside, fried. Big pineapple, small olive jar
Mona1
Great, great molds, and most importantly, just like that, and you don't need to steam how to connect the joints.
Yesterday I continued to experiment from the second strip of plastic. Here are all my current homemade plastic molds along with the previous four. Hedgehog, heart, 2 round - 6 and 7 cm in diameter, 3 eggs, 2 beads.

Mona1, Tanya! well, you are a needlewoman !!!!
DaNiSa
ledi, Vera is smart !! I finally understood, you just bent them a little in the shape of an egg? here it comes to me tight! well, I’m not an engineer even once
DaNiSa
So I finally took my photos and brought them
manufacturing principle on the example of a rabbit with an egg
the husband just folded 2 strips and bent the ends, and then bent again, so it turns out easier for him to do

well, the third batch, eight big and small, heart, fish, egg
as I already wrote, the principle of making molds is the same, in this batch, which was made the very first on 3 molds: 2x eights and an egg, the husband bent the edges so that I would not get hurt, but it takes a lot of time and on everyone else I asked him not to to speed up work

Alena, how many things! What a beauty! Yes, a huge plus of metal cuttings that you can easily make sharp corners. With plastic, it doesn't work out for me. How much I suffered just to make the upper corner in the heart sharp. And it warmed it up, but anyway, the wave turns out there, the plastic is thick and starts to crack under strong squeezing. And your heart turned out much better.
The edges of the metal are, of course, sharp. Can you protect your hands from above with something? I have an idea about this. You can take a thin tube, for example a cocktail tube, and cut it into small pieces. Then cut a piece lengthwise on one side, so that the gap looks like it turned out and put this gap on the upper edge of the cutting in some horizontal section. And such 3-4 pieces are necessary in the felling so that it is, then the hand, when pressed, will rest on these areas. The only thing that these tubes will fly off, of course, will. But this is another question, it can be glued somehow or with tape to tie.
DaNiSa
Tan, I honestly don't bother with these edges at all, when you gently and evenly press on them and normally to your hands, for children I naturally give these 3 forms with safe edges, when they help me, the older one at first was eager to press with all the molds, but then when I gave a try , but he could not squeeze out, agreed that it is better than others, all the more for them, I also have plastic purchased ones, they are just small, and they are just right.
I was just baking Natalie's cookies recently (our recipe from the forum) so the children squeezed out with these molds, they did great.
in general, I still have a couple of ideas for gingerbread that I want to make myself with my husband's hands, but the material is over

Girls, what do you think: is it possible to grind plastic with something? Yesterday in the store I saw molds for plasticine, 100 rubles a set, there are 8 pieces. But the bottom edge is not sharpened, it will probably be bad to cut. So I'm thinking: is it really possible to sharpen this edge with something?

Quote: ledi

Liza, try to cut first. Suddenly it will be ok
Quote: DaNiSa

Liza, I have plastic molds, their bottom edge is not sharpened, you know, these are ordinary and cut out normally. buy, try and share with us at the same time
Quote: Vei

harmful78, Liza, you can sharpen with a machine for hardware manicure / pedicure. I have one)))
But I think that it is quite possible to do without the points, most likely it will cut out like that.

Mona1, Tan, on your advice, brought here her autumn leaves. I'll try to quickly throw it. I found such templates on the network

At a hardware store, my husband bought a roll of metal tape. Adjusted images in standard printing software. And then she bent along the contour with the same tool as Alena in the photo. My husband made a maple leaf, and then I brought it to mind. And she slowly made the rest of the leaves. The joints were not fixed with anything. And everything is holding up so well. Here

Maple leaf size 11x11cm, linden 11x9, oak 11x7.
Very neat work, and the joints can not be fixed too much, but even just glue them with tape. If it comes off, then it's not a problem to glue a new one.
And this tape of what width, the metal rusts or not, as it is generally called, I ask around at my construction market.
And what about the pieces of the required length from the tape orthosis, with some special scissors?
And, and more, add to your post, please, the sizes of the molds.
Larissa u
Dear girls! Thank you for sharing !!! So interesting!!!
Larissa u
And I can't find such a tape anywhere, metal!
DaNiSa
Larissa, do you have bazaars? construction? here they sell whole sheets! is it iron (stainless steel) on the roof or fences are made of them, my husband made me from the remains of a sheet
or now you have more and more tile sheets?
taneskaa
Girls! The sharp edges, on the side where you need to press, I pasted over with tape. It holds very well and lasts for a long time and the shape does not cut the hands.
Larissa u
DaNiSa, not Alyon, we don't have bazaars, there are no such roofs, and noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo was
And in hardware stores, no !!! I do a survey of the population, can anyone at work
Mona1
Oh, Laris, how do you live there? Well, no markets, okay, but no roofs and fences? Maybe google some construction firms or repair firms, maybe they have something, for example, for stretch ceilings, which strips can be attached as a frame. As a last resort, I once had a thought flashed, just buy a long metal ruler in stationery and bend it, only so that the thickness is small so that it can be easily bend.
filirina
Or maybe try some drywall fasteners? It is aluminum, thin, light, bends easily, but in the form of a form it seems to me will have sufficient rigidity and is sold in any building store. I suppose there should be in Germany too.
elena88
Larissa, Lar, my husband bought in "Leroy Merlin", we have it in every Mega-center. The husband does not know how this thing is correctly called. If he goes there again, I’ll puzzle him to buy more, otherwise this roll will soon be over, but I still have plans for other felling sites. Then I can take a picture of how it looks and say what it is called.
elena88
I report: this thing is called - unperforated galvanized clamp tape, thickness 0.55mm, width 15mm, length 5m. Price 54 rubles. Purchased from the Leroy Merlin store and looks like this:

Mona1
Oh, Lena, thank you, now at least I know how to pester sellers, what to say, otherwise I explain on my fingers what I need. And I explain to everyone.
Mona1
Girls, for a long time looking for a suitable alphabet and could not find it. As a result, the choice fell on this one.
Homemade gingerbread cutters. Templates and stencils
Do not be alarmed, I corrected it and I got two alphabets, in which, in principle, everything suits me, except for the letter FROM, I then changed it myself. I'll shove the pictures under the spoiler, otherwise there are a lot of them.

So, the first straight-sided alphabet

And then I wanted more rounded shapes, and I rounded it slightly

And I make the letter C, as you can see on my gingerbread ALICE, these are the letters of the first alphabet

And here I have the rounded letters
Homemade gingerbread cutters. Templates and stencils

ledi
Tanya, thanks! I liked the rounded ones even better! So cartoony! What size did you make? Height?
DaNiSa
Tanya, thanks for the detailed photos!
Mona1
ledi, I made Vera for myself a height of 9 cm with smooth walls, and 10.5 cm - with rounded ones. (when baking, gingerbread cookies are half a centimeter more steel - 9.5-10 cm and 11 cm. But because of their roundness, they look much larger in real life than even, simply huge ones.
I copied the alphabet into a Werd file and now I can make whatever size I need, at least 7 cm, at least 15. Any size. I mastered cropping a picture in verde. It helps a lot in work. For example, we take a photo with letters or any gingerbread, from Google, for example. Copy it, paste it into the verd as many times as there are objects in the photo. And then I crop each photo so that there is only one object, each picture has its own. Then I just decrease and increase as I need. I print it out on a printer. I measure with a ruler, taking into account that there will be about half a centimeter when baking, well, if the image is not enough, I increase it slightly, and again - to the printer. Until there is a suitable size.
elena88
Mona1, Tan, thank you
Mona1
Not at all, girls. It's good that they kicked me, otherwise I squeezed a good thing.
aelita1702
Mona1, very cool alphabet! Can I ask you for a file?))
Mona1
Vika, of course. Write me a personal email. Should I send you like pictures, or in verde?
patri
Mona1, Mona, can I also have a file or pictures. And tell me from these pictures to cut out of cans and then apply and cut to the dough? I'm afraid I can't bend the shape.
kolobashka
Virgo, and no one knows a program for 3D models? My nephew is now printing a form on the printer, but he found this model in the tyrnet. But to create this model, you need a special program. He brakes himself. I asked for a form for a month, and only find the program ...
Mona1
patri, Nina, excuse me, I just saw it, write me your email, I will send it. Only I can send the same pictures, and in the verde I have only the alphabet with straight walls 10 cm high.
patri
Mona1, Thank you! mail address sent.
Vei
Hurrah! I made my first cut according to my sketch and size It turned out not as perfect as I thought it would be, but not bad for the first time and it will do for gingerbread.

and bent sharp edges?
you mean the cutting edge itself along the entire length of the mold? if about her, then no, I did not fold anything. My tape is thick enough, it doesn't cut my hands. Of course, I wanted to buy a stainless steel, maybe it is thinner, and this is galvanized. But it is cheap and I decided to try it, although it would not be a pity to throw it out if it does not work out. One of these days I will lay out the gingerbread from this felling, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow I will do just that.

Lisa, what a beautiful mold! And what is the thickness of the galvanized, you will not tell? And then I on the market on a clamping strip galvanized eye knocked. The seller said that it is millimeter, that is, 1 mm thick. And the width is 2 cm. Only it was perforated, but I want a solid one, but the thickness of 1 mm is not too much? I'm afraid I won't bend.
Vei
Tanya, I have definitely not 1mm, but thinner, and it was difficult to bend. My feed is like this:

Homemade gingerbread cutters. Templates and stencils
Mona1
Yes, twice as thin, and the width is 1.5 cm, and in the one that I saw - 2 cm, so I definitely won't bend. It's good that I didn't buy it.
ledi
Lisa, come on! Jack of all trades! And with what?
Tanya, remember, I asked you for letters. So my husband has already done a part. But there are still many not made 18 pieces. The gingerbread cookies are 9 cm high. I like them so much, it is this form. Such cartoonish or something

And with what?
double clamp, as in the video here in the subject. After this video, I was on fire with this case. And then they ordered big New Year's toys, I don't have any. But for flowers, I would hardly be able to accurately cut down. By the way, Lena88 made her autumn leaves from the same ribbon, so much respect to her!
When I found this tape, I risked taking it, and then I read Lena's report and made up my mind. And she did the right thing - for 56 rubles 5 meters of such pleasure.
Mona1
Vera, do you like those with straight walls or convex ones?
