Lean pea soup with cumin

Ingredients

Frozen green peas 500 g
Water 500 g
Caraway 1 tsp
Bulb onions 2 pcs
Garlic (to taste) 1-2 tooth
Olive oil 2 tbsp. l.
Tomatoes 500 g
Salt, ground black pepper taste
Fresh basil 2 twigs

Cooking method

  • Grind the cumin in a mortar into a powder.
  • Pour the peas with water, add cumin, boil until tender for 15 minutes. Purée with a blender.
  • Heat the olive oil in a frying pan, fry the chopped onion and the garlic passed through a press until transparent.
  • Pour tomatoes over with boiling water, then cold water, peel, cut into cubes. Add to the pan.
  • Simmer vegetables over low heat for 10 minutes.
  • Season with salt, pepper and finely chopped basil.
  • Remove from heat, cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
  • Pour soup into bowls. put the tomato mixture on top. Serve with bread.
