Note

This salad is not a secret for anyone, but my mommy came up with an addition to it and prepared it for the first time. She is a great culinary specialist and from a few simple ingredients can come up with something that you will lick your fingers!
I remember I was 7-8 years old. Parents received guests, but I don’t remember why ... but then, we children, were seated at a separate table. But I remember from that evening how my mother's friends very actively discussed the topic, "what kind of interesting Olivier do you have, Anya (that's my mother's name)?" They tried to guess by taste what was in it, namely, what kind of meat ? I hear - some say - "beef", others - "no, pork", there were even suggestions that the liver ... And I was so interested in their conversation, reminiscent of a quiz, that I was impatiently waiting for what my mother would say. In general, no one guessed right. And my mother said tuna. Everyone was surprised - how is it a fish, after all, a salad with meat tastes good! My mother's parents (my grandparents) lived in Lithuania. And my brother and I were taken there for the whole summer. But when they picked us up at the end of August, I remember how my parents always bought some cans, on which a fish was drawn and it was written "tuna". And for me it has always been a mystery why they are needed, these canned food, and every year their parents take them home? It turns out that my mother always took care of him for her signature Olivier!
Time passed, I got married, a daughter was born. And somehow we got together with our friends - families! I prepared our salad with tuna, by that time it was already on sale in our stores. And, I hear, from my friends the question that her friends once asked my mother ... And I became so wondering if they would guess what is in Olivier? The assumptions were pretty much the same as many years ago ... but no one ever recognized it as "tuna meat quality."
Here's a story. Have you ever tried such a salad?
Try it! And Happy New Year to you and your family!

Not a fan of canned food, I replaced tuna with pollock boiled with a small amount of spices. The taste of the salad exceeded all expectations. Such a solid "Soviet" taste. And it's not difficult for every day, and it's not a shame to have a New Year's table.
For some reason, I wanted to repeat it with bright mackerel, which I adore. And I will certainly repeat.
Checkmark, thanks for expanding your culinary horizons!

It turned out that the mayonnaise based on Rominy apple chicly sets off not only raw vegetables and meat, but also fish. A very unexpected surprise came out.

Irina, to your health!
Of course, you can experiment with this salad and add fish to your taste and desire.
It's nice that Tatiana's mayonnaise has taken its place of honor here.
Irochka, thank you for choosing to cook for a detailed story and a beautiful presentation! I am very pleased

In our family, we also have a similar salad recipe, but in addition to salted, there is also a fresh cucumber, and instead of tuna, canned pink salmon or sockeye salmon. It's probably more interesting with tuna, it really doesn't taste like fish.
mamusi
I will definitely make myself for the New Year in a beautiful vase.

Thanks for the recipe!

In my childhood, my mother often replaced sausage in Olivier (in this topic, canned tuna) with crab or squid meat. It was also delicious.

In Dixie, at the checkout, they offered a product at a discount, and now I already have a can of tuna. I was thinking about what salad to cook, and on our favorite website I saw your recipe. Tomorrow my husband is 70 years old, and I will make such a salad. I will definitely unsubscribe.
galchonok
Ludmila, I will wait and hope that the salad will taste good.

Checkmark, if not difficult - answer: tuna and tuna in oil, are they the same thing? In a jar 140g. So take 2 jars?
galchonok
Larissa, yes, it's tuna. One can is enough. Most importantly, do not take where it is written for the salad. He's too small there. And natural is better than oil
