  • This pie has a shortbread dough. Beat the butter with sugar until white, add one egg, beat again. Sift wheat flour, add corn flour. It is not necessary to sift it. Add baking powder, salt and combine with butter and egg mass. Mix quickly and assemble into a ball. Do not knead for a long time. Filling: boil 6 eggs, finely chop the green onion. Mix cottage cheese and sour cream in a bowl, season with salt and pepper, add green onions. Grate peeled eggs (5-6 pcs), add to the filling. Mix everything. The original recipe uses a split mold. I baked in a one-piece with a diameter of 26 cm and a height of 6 cm. I greased it with vegetable oil, and simply kneaded the dough in shape with my hands. It should be thin, 0.5 cm. Make high sides and lay out the filling. Bake at 180 degrees. 35-40 minutes. The cake must be chilled before being cut. Sprinkle with dill as desired.

One "but" from my point of view: the dough turned out to be very sweet, it will be good with a sweet filling. For unsweetened onion pie, I would reduce the sugar. The pie turns out to be tall, there are a lot of fillings, I think next time I will take a mold of even larger diameter. Why is the pie called Novgorod? I do not know. Easy to do. While I was making the filling, I put the dough in the refrigerator. It didn't make him any worse. Sour cream, I think, can be replaced with cream.
