Ingredients

Lingonberry or cranberry ~ 250 + 300g

Water 5 liters
Sugar 400 g

Cooking method

  • The base of this compote is lingonberry or cranberry. For the winter, I ice them in sachets of about 250-300g each.
  • I always cook the compote the same way. I pour 5 liters of water into a seven-liter saucepan with a thick bottom (it keeps heat well). When the water boils, add sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves. Then I add berries and fruits almost to the top of the pan. Everything that is in the refrigerator is used: apples, pears, strawberries, plums, sometimes grapes or peaches (substandard), but more often these are local fruits - very useful, but absolutely not sweet and not very tasty)). Frozen, fresh, any)) I never add citrus fruits. As soon as the compote boils, I turn off the gas and leave the compote under a closed lid for 10-12 hours, more often overnight. Then I strain the compote, fill the jugs, put them in the refrigerator. We drink compote chilled.
  • Lingonberries or cranberries are always felt, the compote turns out to be refreshing, not sugary-sweet.
