Barley porridge with milk in a slow cooker

Ingredients

Pearl barley 100 ml
Water 500 ml
Milk 1 liter
Salt Pinch
Sugar Taste

Cooking method

  • I decided to cook this porridge after reading Pokhlebkin's text about Tsar Peter 1's favorite porridge and the technology of its preparation on the forum
  • I soaked 100 ml of barley in 500 ml of cold water overnight, drained the water in the morning, put the barley in 1 liter of milk, heated to about 40 ℃ in a saucepan, on the stove. Brought to a boil and boiled for 5 minutes, with the lid open.
  • Then she poured it into a sterilized heat-resistant bowl and simmered in a water bath, in a slow cooker,
  • within 4 hours at HIGH
  • , to a pleasant creamy porridge.
  • Seasoned porridge to taste with sugar and a pinch of salt.

The dish is designed for

2-3 portions

Time for preparing:

4 hours

Cooking program:

HIGH

Note

Pokhlebkin recommends the following proportions:
1 cup (200ml) cereal, soak in exactly 1 liter of cold water for 12 hours.
Then drain the water, put the cereals in warm milk (2l), bring to a boil, cook for exactly 5 minutes, and then TURN for 6 hours in a water bath until a creamy color appears. Season with cream and butter.

At the forum, they cooked porridge in such proportions, pouring it from a saucepan into a slow cooker, without a water bath,
10 hours on LOW,
I decided to cook closer to the original text, but less in volume
Impressive!

Oksana, do you think you can cook porridge in a milk cooker? I don't have a slow cooker. Thank you.

ninza,
Nina,
Pokhlebkin advises to bring the porridge to a boil and boil for 5 minutes in a saucepan, on the stove, then put the porridge in a large pot with boiling water and simmer for 6 hours in a water bath, adding boiling water every hour
Theoretically, a milk cooker, it is a water bath ....?
If you manage to cook baked milk in a milk cooker, then porridge should also work out (I don't have a milk cooker, I can't say how it works)
You need to cook until you get a creamy color, approximately the same as that of fermented baked milk.
ninza
Oksana, baked milk turns out. Need to cook. Thank you.

Oksana, what you need, porridge, well done. Thank you.

kristina1,
Cheers, Christina. What is left of breakfast, I lay out on bowls,
I cover directly on the porridge with cling film so that no crust forms on top
and eat like pudding cold.

galchonok,
Galina, I am twice happy, firstly, that I liked the recipe, and secondly, that it turned out in STEBE, very often I get questions whether it is possible to cook in STEB and I don't know what to say, now I know what it IS POSSIBLE.
The color of the porridge is gorgeous, the taste is clear that the one that Tsar Peter loved.

Check mark, and I have a question: how much should you cook on languor? And, did I understand correctly that the saucepan is non-stick?
galchonok
Natusichka, I bet in different ways, then at 6, then at 7 hours (depending on when I go to bed) - the result in both cases is pleasing and almost the same. The difference is that after 7 hours, a slightly more melted taste appears. Yes, non-stick bowl

Check mark, Thank you!
