Tell me, can you freeze soup in a glass jar?
Crown
Mirabel, I do not freeze anything in jars, I remember from the school curriculum that when it freezes, the liquid increases in volume and breaks the glass. I freeze in glass trays that have been discussed recently in kitchen trivia. And recently, especially because of the square molds, I bought ice cream "green ... (I don't remember what)", in which I freeze, however, not soups, but surplus of the second.

Mirabel, vika, nothing can be done: lol: in glass - it will break .. maybe the form plays a role - a can / bottle is higher - if the form is written as - if it is lower and flat - and it will be normal ... I do not ice - only plastic and silicone

I probably missed this lesson and somehow put the champagne in the freezer a long time ago ... and forgot about it. Pulled out pieces of glass and lumps of champagne

Wiki, but I remembered, but there was only a liter jar at hand and I had to run urgently, I poured half of it into the jar on purpose - I thought it would carry over, but it was convenient to collect the contents in a piece and the glass was large, although it was long ago- (now in the freezer stall there is always a couple of Ikeev's packages, just in case) it was well remembered that there was no need to set up experiments

And yes, I still don't close them tightly with a lid - I just cover them with something flat or put them in a bag.

Galina, Marina, I remember about the laws of physics, but I thoughthoped, what if you pour less liquid, so everything will be ok.
unfortunately, I do not have glass trays, but for the future I will buy

for this I have special trays. Probably in them and pour excess soup.

It is impossible: because a glass jar with a liquid containing water will burst (when freezing, 11 parts by volume of ice are formed from 10 parts by volume of water).

For freezing, buying glass trays is pointless. Plastic, aluminum, stainless steel and silicone are optimal. As well as improvised forms from food packaging, but they must be thoroughly washed before reuse. It is easier to take bags for freezing by putting 2-3 bags inside each other and closing them with a reliable clip.

I froze egg whites and yolks in glass jars from baby food. Everything was fine. Even when preparing a universal lubricant, I also sent the excess to the freezer in glass. But this is no longer water, of course.

Anna, Yes Yes! I also froze squirrels and kept them in a jar and everything was fine

Sissstra! Only I'm not champagne, but 2 bottles of beer, non-alcoholic. I bought it for my husband for some kind of feast. I put it on half an hour to cool it down and forgot about it in the pre-holiday bustle. Here sits down at the tables, husband - where is the beer? I'm talking in the fridge! They searched everywhere, even went down the stairs, then it comes to me .... I open the freezer, and there are fragments and a lump of ice, and even other products filled with beer. I thought my husband would beat me, but nothing, with a drink in a glass I spent the whole evening
Mirabel, Vika, why do you need to freeze the soup? I never freeze the first. I preserve the first and keep it in the refrigerator, I can do it for 3 months. Very convenient, this is Tanya's advice Admin... Pour the boiling first into a sterilized jar, twist the lid and cool it upside down.

Oh, and I always ice my husband different soups! In Taper freezer containers! As I leave for a sanatorium - three weeks before departure and start .... He is delighted, every day without me the soup cracks (And the second, of course, too). But according to Tanya's recipe, I will not risk it in any way ...

Olga, when I was leaving, I also preserved 0.5 liter cans of soups and borscht. The fact that he was freezing, secondly, he did not float much. He said that he was sitting on dumplings, sausages, bacon, macaroshki horns (Slavtegospodi, although he knows how to cook pasta for himself)
But almost all the jars with the first are gone! No need to defrost, came, opened the jar, poured it into a bowl, warmed it up and had lunch. And even now I almost always, just in case, have a jar with the first. Didn't have time to cook, or I'm not at home. The husband came to lunch, opened the jar and you're done!
