Cobbler Pie

Ingredients

For cakes:
Wheat flour 275 g
Kefir, milk or yogurt 175 ml
Butter or margarine 70 g
Baking powder 1.5 tsp.
Soda ¾ h. L.
Parsley 3 tbsp. l.

Cooking method

  • 1. In a fireproof saucepan (I first cooked everything in a high frying pan, and then put it in a ceramic dish), fry the meat (this time I made it from chicken) in a small amount of vegetable oil until it is browned. Add onion, sauté, then carrots, peppers, sauté
  • 2. Put tomatoes, salt, add spices. (You can pour in the broth if there is not enough liquid, I had enough from the tomato). Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until meat is tender. Preheat the oven. (I put the stew out of the pan into a ceramic dish)
  • 3. Prepare cakes. Sift flour into a bowl, add baking powder, fashion, salt, butter or margarine and knead. Add parsley and kefir. Knead.
  • 4. Put the dough on the sprinkled with flour, roll it into a layer 1.3 cm thick and cut into circles (I cut it into a heart shape). Place the tortillas on top of the stew so they overlap slightly.
  • 5. Place in the center of the oven so that the cakes rise and brown.
  • Cobbler Pie

Note

Cobbler is a quick pie, where instead of dough there are crispy cakes toasted in the oven.
I cook it as a completely independent second dish.

The cakes are crispy on top, and from the bottom they absorb liquid from the stew))
the pictures were not very good ((

As I understood, this dish does not "sit" for long in the oven? After all, everything except cakes is ready ...

And I do it with berries or fruits, as an independent third dish

I read that it was originally a pie with berries ... but never tried ...

Hurrah! I did it! I also did it with chicken. I tried it myself - I almost ate it along with the form. Now the family will appear from the walk - I will feed. Thank you so much for the recipe. Very tasty, but not too much hassle if the house has everything you need.

So I like that there is not a lot of hassle ... I do it on the meat that is at home))

For a sweet cobbler, you can take any fruit, berries or rhubarb, add raisins and other dried fruits, sugar and spices to taste + 2-3 tbsp. tablespoons of corn flour. If the fruit is hard (apples, rhubarb) I bake until soft without dough, you can put it in a saucepan over the fire, then put it in a mold, bake the dough on top

And you spread the dough in a layer?

From the dough, in the same way as it was said at the beginning, I squeeze out the figures as for cookies and spread them. And you can also make a mixture of
40g oatmeal
50g flour, psh.
50g box Sahara
45g butter (margarine)
mix until large crumbs and sprinkle on fruits - bake

Yesterday I made it with pork. Husband appreciated! It turned out tasty and unusual. But next time I'll put less baking soda, and leave more liquid in the filling, this time it came out rather dry, ate with fresh tomatoes with a bite. Thanks to the author for the idea, especially since the filling can be absolutely any.

I wrote the ingredients from the original recipe ... and now I'm thinking ... I don't put soda .. just a little baking powder .. by eye ..
